Ohhh what a lovely photo and so appropriate when one thinks of Dorothy Knight. She was a lovely and peaceful Christian lady. One of the last things she ever did while on this earth- in spite of her own grief- is- she reached out to help another.

Lovingly and tenderly remembering my very dear mother and best friend, Allie (Laplander) Jokie who passed away on May 7, 1979 in Escanaba. I still miss her very much and it's hard to believe it has been almost 30 years. We graduated from Suomi College together in 1971. I will always treasure the great legacy she left me by her wonderful example in so many ways. Also remembering with much love my precious grandparents, Emil and Mary Laplander, my sweet aunties Julia Benney and Ruth Smith, my dear uncles Rick Laplander, Bob Laplander and Bill Landers, and my wonderful cousin Carol Pepin who left us much too soon. What a rich blessing they have all been in my life.

I'd like to remember my grandmother, Eva Durocher, who I believe passed away in May in 1972. All she ever wanted was to see my first child born, and she died a month and a half too soon. I still miss her. She was my card playing buddy as well as one of the nicest grandmothers anybody could ever have.

Azfinn, Cousin Sue: Thanks for the loving, thoughtful memoriam for all my favorite Aunts & Uncles also and my Mom Ruth Smith who would have been 91 May 11. I always remember the tremendous and caring help your mother did for my mom, brother Bob and myself in those very trying days of WW2 before you were born. Bless them all--and you! Despite the serious auto accident we had in March which turned our life upside down, we once again will try to make it to the Copper Country this summer to see the few relatives left there! It's been way too many years since being there. Thanks to, and remembering also my late mother-in-law Julie Holmes who left us her old car. Thanks to her we have a replacement at least for ours! She was a long time pillar and resident of Roseville MI who would have been 96 on May 19. Bless her also.
