The freighter picture makes me miss the lake and home. Thanks again for the great slide show.

Speaking of freighters Deb, I heard on the news last night that the Soo Locks are officially opened as of today, 3/25/08. They also mentioned that it's the iciest the lakes have been on opening day in a number of years. If any of you "Boatnerds" out there have some current pictures, email them to me at: mdrew@pasty.com so we can feature them as a daily photo! :->

I had thought they were going to open this coming Saturday, but, whatever...It does not look very promising for the shipping lanes, at least yet. Here are 4 web cams for the Soo Locks. Check out the one on the approach from the West! Talk about frigid!

Good Morning, I was watching the weather channel at about 1 am and they did a quick thing about the icebreaker mackinac and preparing to open the locks. They said Tuesday which would be today I guess (a little slow this morning)

I wonder if that's my Grandpa Ohman in that picture of the Baltic
Mine. He worked in three different mines over the years. There are
so few pictures of him that I'm not really sure what he would have
looked like back then. He was born in 1865, so he'd have to be
one of the older gents.
