A little late this morning. Fell back, instead of springing ahead. I think we have it right now.

Could somebody tell me where Greenwood Falls is, and also Crisp Point Lighthouse?

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Sunday, March 9, 2008 - 11:05 am:

Deb...there is a past email regarding Greenwoods Falls. Here is the link:

Very cool. Yet one more spot to put on my must see list.

By Joanne Sherrick (Shedoesnails) on Sunday, March 9, 2008 - 11:34 am:

Congratulations houghton and calumet on your hockey championships. My Grandmother who is close to 90 grew up in calumet. when I was a child she would tell me how she loved to skate.
for along time I imagined her gliding across the ice like a beautiful ballerina. It was not until I was much older that I learned that Grandma and her sister played on a hockey team and were great players.I have to go call Gram and tell her the news.

Not to sound excessively picky, but for the sake of technical correctness, and to avoid the risk of confusion in terms, that's not an "email". It might be called a forum message, a forum post, perhaps a "blog" entry, but it is definitely not an "email"!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, March 9, 2008 - 11:54 am:

Good Morning, Everyone! I hope you all have a good Sunday! Congratulations to the Calumet Copper Kings on their Div 3 Hockey championship! There are a number of pictures of the game and cheerleaders on the Detroit Free Press's web site, for those who might be interested:
http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/frontpage

And, can you believe that Division 1 went 8 OT's, & gave up, and kept the tie? Wow! The Free Press said that some of the players were so tired that they weren't even sure they could walk out of the arena!

By Doug (Greenhermit) on Sunday, March 9, 2008 - 02:01 pm:

Just to add a little more “pickiness” to the conversation: these are the Greenwood (not Greenwoods) Falls. They were named after the Greenwood Lumber Company that operated a sawmill in Ontonagon in the early 1900’s. Between 1908 and 1930 this company logged an area south of Lake Superior from the Potato River west of Ontonagon up to the present day Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Their last logging camp was located next to these falls on the Big Iron River. In the early 30’s when initial efforts were made to encourage tourism in the area through the creation of a state or national park from the Porcupine Mountains, several local geographical names magically changed giving them a more appealing and romantic ring to potential visitors. Greenwood Falls became Bonanza Falls; Carp Lake metamorphosed into Lake of the Clouds; Little Carp Lake became Mirror Lake; and the village of Iron River switched back to Silver City - a name change that had occurred once before during a short-lived silver mining boom during the 1870’s. Some of these name changes stuck better than others. For example, Greenwood Falls remains better know to locals by that name, than by Bonanza Falls.

Okay, that doesn't sound like our FRNash, I can't see him being "dainty". HEHEHE!

Snowman (Snowman):

I kinda prefer the term pedantic ¬ this Wikipedia definition in particular. (Not necessarily including the OCD reference!)

By Snowman (Snowman) on Sunday, March 9, 2008 - 06:20 pm:

HMM, never heard of "too too", is that like being "Ultra"? Does OCD stand for "Overly Correct Dude"? Have a great Sunday FRNash and all.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, March 9, 2008 - 06:42 pm:

No Snowman, "Tootoo" plays hockey for the Nashville Predators.

By Snowman (Snowman) on Sunday, March 9, 2008 - 06:47 pm:

AHA, TooToo, thought for a minute it was Donald Trump's hairdresser, he's got to be a predator.

" never heard of 'too too'"

Did I miss somethin'? I don't see any 'too too', neither here nor in any links on this page. (?)

"OCD = "Overly Correct Dude"?
Yeah, I like that one!

I am going to have a wonderful week. It couldn't happen to a better guy then me. I have been needing one for so long. I am going to enjoy all the piece and quiet I will have. And the TV remote is mine all mine. Barbie left for Lower Mich.Ferndale, at 6:30 PM. I am here alone, well except for the two dog's, and the Grand kid's little bunny, which the dogs love.Oh it is going to be so wonderful here alone!

Hey Mikie... Is the weather OK up there? We got the snow that was promised us Friday & Saturday.Did not last until today, still rather cold, but hey she can't holler at me for stealing all the covers.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Monday, March 10, 2008 - 12:04 am:

Dave the weather is getting better, supposed to be in the forties this week. Snow dusting tomorrow then nice weather. Went to St. Clair Michigan and fired our three cannons to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the city. White out conditions during the firing, but I sure enjoyed myself. Looking forward to the upcoming reenactment season. I am feeling better then last year and hope to be able to reenact with my buddies. French and Indian war is still being fought by us.
