Just got a powder alert from Grand Targhee Ski Resort in Alta WY. 14 inches over night. Too bad the boss is on vacation or I would be in the car for the 2 hour drive. It's only 6 a.m. here.

We're having what's turning out to be a typical central MN "snowstorm". By the time it's done we may end up with an inch, possibly an inch and a half. That might push us UP to 24 inches for the winter. Tough sleddin' here... Mr. Deb

Well here in Hillsdale County Michigan we got around 8 inches of new snow last night. It started about 5PM and stopped about 5 AM. All the schools are closed but the temp is 25 degrees heading for 30 so it should start melting soon. We have had over 5 feet of snow this winter and that does not count the rain and ice we have had also. Before every storm this winter we have had a day of warm temps so we had melting that caused flooding. Or if there was not melting we had rain and some of that was heavy rain that caused flooding so under our new 8 inches of snow we have flooded fields, yards, and roads. The wrist of Michigan is getting tired of winter. Mrs Wahtola

The wrist of Michigan. That's one I've never heard. I love it!

It's just below the thumb, Kosk!! ;-)

I've never heard the wrist of Michigan either. So hopefully the wrist doesnt' get weak, since it has to hold the rest of Michigan up.

Actually Hillsdale County is the center of the wrist of Michigan. We are where Michigan, Indiana and Ohio Meet. Hillsdale county is very well named as we have lot of hills and dales(a broad valley). It is a beautiful place to live. Lots of lakes and in fall we have wonderful color. My husband was born in Mohawk/Fulton area and I was born in Hillsdale. So we cover both ends of the state. After last nights snow we are having a beautiful day lots of sunshine and a temp of 30 so it is melting already. Mrs W

The whitetail in the first photo is thinking: "I wonder if this fur makes my butt look big?".

In today's video, I like Donn de Yampert's "Escanaba in Da Sunrise". That's much better den "Escanaba in Da Moonlight", eh?

The wrist of Michigan on it's right hand is beautifully placed in Hillsdale. Not to much up a bit is Brooklyn where you race fans know of for the Michigan International Speedway. If not for in-laws I would not of spent much time exploring the area, since they moved to Hillsdale, and Jonesville some years ago from around Metro Airport where a lot of other Hillbillies reside.
Where the middle of the wrist for the left hand of Michigan can be debated by others who live in it, would be a interesting topic. But it would escalate into thumbs which we know MI. has two of with nails knuckles, and onto the little finger, the ring finger, the middle finger, (sorry) and index finger ect.

I always thought of Michigan as being the right hand with the palm facing up for some reason.

I live in west Lansing and we didn't even get one flake of snow last night. Whew! I'm glad we missed out on that one.

right hand palm up LP left hand palm up 90* clockwise to mirror image right hand is the UP 2 hands needed to describe this area, unique in the world.
By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 - 06:43 pm:
No no no,the left hand is the U.P. One should hold the left hand out streched and use index finger on right hand to point to the thumb on your left hand to show where the Copper Country can be found.

Well then Michigan wins hands down for being a state with a very interesting shape.

Oddly enough, at the meeting I went to this afternoon, I got to talking with a consultant who said she was going to visit her mother. When I asked where she lived, she dumbfounded me by telling me that she was from Sturgis, not far from the Indiana border. I asked her if that was in the wrist and she whipped up her mitten hand and showed me just where it was. I produced my left hand and showed her where I came from. She immediately said--"Oh, you're from Marquette. You're a Yooper." And to think that this dialogue took place at a meeting in midtown Toronto. Imagine: we could have broken out singing the state song. I wonder how many Michiganders learned that during their school years?
By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 - 10:07 pm:
No, no. Its's sung to the tune of "O Christmas Tree"/"O Tannenbaum." It starts off: A song to thee, fair state of mine. Michigan, my Michigan. " You're a bad one, Uncle Chuck!
