While searching for some appropriate music to accompany this week's Pasty Cameo, this photo of Easter bonnets caught my attention as I strolled through the Library of Congress. She seems to be thinking, "I'll wear it, but I don't have to like it."

By the way, I did find the hymn I was looking for, with a permission note for its use. "Eternal Father, Strong to Save". It's interesting how many churches have come into view of the Pasty Cam over the decade of this daily 'glimpse of life in the U.P.' Old churches, new churches, weddings, funerals... Hope you enjoy our brief collage on this Resurrection Sunday.

Good Morning and Happy Easter to all! Too bad our weather here didn't go along with this joyous day. It is 17 degrees and snowing here in Houghton.

Unusual photo and once again nobody is smiling. It looks as though they are purposely trying to look serious. It must have been the style of the time. They almost look like rap artists.

Unless, as most kids are..."I don't want to pose for a photo, let me play!"

He is risen, He is risen indeed. Out here in the outback of America, I have friends who arrived here in conestoga wagons and bonnets similar to those. However, instead of pleats they had slits in the part that go around the head and slats of wood were inserted in them. When they needed to be washed the wood was removed and the cloth washed then he wood slats put back in. This was in the early 1900s before we really had roads.

My Thanks goes out to Charlie and Jonathan. Charlie, for making a 'House Call' on Easter Sunday for a DSL phenomenon. And Jonathan on the other end for tech-support.

The two young women with arms folded seem to be copying adult posture and saying, "There will be no nonesense allowed here, none!" I'm feeling the same way after this day's trip south for business, though more likely to display it with hands on hips and the stern face.

I know I'm a bit late, but -- rarely do you see people smiling in older photos. At that time, exposures were long enough (measured in minutes) that people couldn't smile for that long without looking forced. So instead, we have a lot of very "serious" photos!

another lovely UP church--Faith Lutheran in Ishpeming--with
family members.

Nicely done and moving. Recognized several of the buildings, and one in which I performed a wedding.
