Some have asked about the music included with the decade review, whether it will always be the same. Each month we'll have a new selection, something pleasant to start your morning, along with a stroll through the archives on this day each year.

Can the total snowfall item be updated? The last notice was for Feb. 12 and we've had quite a bit since then; I believe the number is approaching 210. That is an item that I think many people would like to know. I miss the airport weather folks and the daily updates in the local newspaper. In fact, I think a sign with daily accumulation measurement at the bridge corner in Houghton would be a real tourist interest, not to mention an item of conversation for the locals.

Good morning all! Just back from breakfast. 20 degrees and bright sunshine. WJR is forecasting 4"-6" of snow for Monday night and Tuesday. We are getting short of snow! Where's spring?

Good Morning! 25 degrees, bright sunshine, high of 34 today here in Houghton. It's about time, think we've got more than enough snow by now.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 09:41 am:

Good morning! It's warming up! The snow was melting yesterday. Not that we have much, but what we have was melting. Hope everybody's having a great weekend.

Nice to see the sun yesterday and again this morning. I spent some time chopping ice yesterday afternoon and I had forgotten how much my thumbs could bother me. They still feel weird this morning. Here in the Milw area we have had twice as much snow as in the past several years and another storm is expected tomorrow night. It's the freezing rain and ice that really gets ya - not the snow.

JAD - Eagle Harbor web (http://eagleharborweb.net/) has more up-to-date figures, at least for Keweenaw County. George is reporting 230.2" as of 2/21. Seems pretty certain we'll beat our average snowfall this year, since we still have at least 6 weeks of winter left. However, yesterday and today have been clear and sunny...just what we need after a cloudy winter!

By John W (Jwahtola) on Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 10:25 am:

We have had 6 day in a row of mosty sunny. Yea! Even with the very cold temps it has been a taste of spring. Now they are saying rain, freezing rain, sleet, then snow and lots of that for us here in Hillsdale County. I will sure have to enjoy the sun of today. Hope every one enjoys today and fairs well during the storm. Mrs. jwahtola

JAD, I measure the snow for Houghton County, & the official total to date (including this AM's reading) is 216 inches. Currently I record 32 inches on the ground. The total for last year at the end of the month of February was 190 inches so we are slightly ahead. The total snowfall for Oct thru April 07 was 288 that includes the 60 inches we got blasted with in April. I hope this answers your question. The last year that Houghton county hit the 300 inch mark was Oct 01-April 02 reading which was 316.5 inches.

JAD - John Dee at his site www.johndee.com records 200.5 inches snow total and 39" of snow cover as of 2/22/08. His station is located in Allouez Township, Keweenaw County, MI.

It was really warm here in Cornell. I took a pic of the Oregon Scientific time/temp doodad in the kitchen today at 3:43 pm, the temp. was 41.5° F! Holy Wah! Yesterday the high temp. I had was 37.4°. Snowbanks are shrinking. Spring is on its way. :o)
