See the note about "This Day in History" on the main Cam Notes Page. Hey, do I get the Early Bird?

By Budone (Budone) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 07:00 am:

Hard to believe I am opening my ice cream shop this week. It will be very slow!!!

Not if it's in Brazil.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 07:07 am:

Good Morning, Everyone, on this frigid Monday morning in mid-Michigan. It's -3, with a wind chill temp of -22 now. Stay warm!

Umm, Budone, I don't know where you are, but it is rather cold for ice cream, at least here. I guess that will give you some time to work out the "bugs" in things, etc. Good luck with your venture.

By Kathy P. (Katiaire) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 07:22 am:

Anytime is ice cream time!!! Good luck to you, Budone and congratulations on the Early Bird.

Where is your store located?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 07:25 am:

Good morning everybody! Absolutely love this final shot of the building of the new bridge.

No Charlie, no early bird for you. You're always first. LOL

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 07:27 am:

Our Dairy Queens never close, and the Tastee Freeze closes from Nov-Feb. I scream for ice cream anytime of the year!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 07:31 am:

Charlie--I have been happy with all of the ways you have been
doing the videos. My husband and I both think you have a perfect
voice to do this sort of commentary!

By Steve Haagen (Radsrh) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 08:07 am:

Budone no matter how cold it is in Northern,WI we still have snowmobilers standing outside in town eating ice cream.

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 08:23 am:

What happened to the logging history video?

Also, I hope the winter carnival video does not disappear. GREAT JOB! More so because of the blizzard which probably caused many to miss seeing the sculptures live. And the bllizzard with its snow and wind will blunt the delicate carvings.

The wonderful thing about these statues is that they represent so much talent/beauty and then they will be gone....

By Peg Hardt (Almostup) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 09:30 am:

Charlie, I love the gentle music either with or without the voice over. I did enjoy the cameos where the photos were identified not just by year, but who and where. Thanks again for this feature.

By Martha Kirk (Misschiefie) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 09:38 am:

The Dairy Queen in Brighton posts this sign: "Closed for the season. Reason? Freezin!"

By John W (Jwahtola) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 10:23 am:

Charlie,
I vote for the voice over that give information wheather it is telling history or what the pictures are about. Great job! Enjoying all that you and Mary do.

By Robinohio (Robinohio) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 10:28 am:

Hey Charlie
There things in the U.P that are unigue to U.P Like riding your snowmobile to the store and having a place to park. If you did that here you would get a fine.
And what choppers, panking, pasties, smelt are.and what a sauna is and how to say it.I get picked on all the time for the way I say sauna and add eh to the end of my sentences.Im sure you can think of a lot more. Could you do a cameo thats uniquely yooper and have someone that can speak yooper do the voice over.

By Robinohio (Robinohio) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 10:38 am:

another thing you only see in the UP are those rustic looking signs to places that are made of logs. I hope they never get replaced by anything more modern looking.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 11:04 am:

I love the snowmobile parking at WalMart in Houghton! I like either the music or voice-over. Charlie's new nickname should be "The Voice"!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 11:14 am:

Marsha, it just struck me, when you were talking about what Charlie's new nickname should be, that the voice in Charlie's Angels, the old TV series was that of another "Charlie", one that we never got to see on that TV show, but who was always there, watching over things. (I used to watch Charlie's Angels every week when it was on.)

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 11:17 am:

Robinohio, are you talking about the cool signs that mark the waterfalls, etc, UP in Copper Country? I really love those. Those signs are more rustic than what I refer to below.

Some towns in the northern part of the Lower Peninsula have some really cool carved and painted wooden artwork signs that I love, too.

By Robinohio (Robinohio) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 11:29 am:

Yep those are the ones im talking about.I always thought they fit in with the countryside so well.Sort of added to view rather than distract from it.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 11:36 am:

I completely agree, Robin. When I take pictures, I always try to include at least one photo with the sign of each scene. :-)

By Linda Corrigan (Josiesgrandma) on Monday, February 11, 2008 - 11:12 pm:
