Thanks, Deb, first time for the early bird. I do get one, don't I Charlie?

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 08:21 am:

Good Morning, Everyone, on a foggy morning here in mid-Michigan.

By Mr. Bill (Mrbill) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 08:40 am:

We miss the twice daily visits under our bird feeters by this beautiful critter. Hope he, or she, didn't end up mounted over someones fireplace.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 08:48 am:

Wow what a cool picture. Inspite of they're sometimes not so good rep, I like foxes. I'm collecting pics for references for a future painting.

By Kathy Sheppard (Ksheppard) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 08:56 am:

We have 80 degrees here (Columbia, S.C.) and hints of spring. It's great to see those layers of snow and imagine myself there. You guys are lucky!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 10:56 am:

Beautiful animals.

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 11:03 am:

Congratulations on your Early Bird, KJ.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 11:07 am:

They are pretty animals. Good morning everyone!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 12:52 pm:

Kathy Sheppard, you're lucky! We lived in Camden, SC in the mid to late '60s, had an ice storm one Feb. that shut down power to everyone! Miserable time. But a beautiful place to be in spring and summer, though.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 12:59 pm:

Does anyone here know how much snow the Atlanta area got recently. Our neighbors maintain that they saw news clip last week that was reporting 10' drifts in the mountains and avalances(sp) and big truck snow blowers to clear the drifts. They claim they didn't have any thing to drink!

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 01:22 pm:

Paul, I think you should have clarified that it may have been jello shots which technically are not drinks. I heard no such thing. Do they even have removal trucks like that down there? They usually get the trucks stuck in the south if the video on the weather channel is to be believed.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 02:47 pm:

Paulwebbtroll, are you sure you aren't talking about Atlanta, WA, LOL? Seriously, Washington state has had an awful time with snow dumps in their mountains this winter. One of their east-west Interstate highways, I think I-90, was closed because of a big avalanche. A number of vehicles were buried. The last I knew, there was still at least one car still missing because of it. Traffic had to be re-routed many miles out of the way, around it. I haven't looked, lately, to see what was up, or to see if it has been re-opened yet.

By Fran in GA (Francesinga) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 02:53 pm:

Paul, I live 2hrs north of Atlanta and I didn't hear anything like that but then too I could have missed it. We haven't got any this winter. I think Monteagle Mt(Tn) had some tho.

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 04:36 pm:

10-4 on the Jello Shots Brooke. I had heard about the similar situation out west but the friends were very adament about it being Georgia. They are very seldom wrong, and when they are it must be someone elses fault! All the storys that I had heard about that area indicated that their equipment was not prepared for much snow. Thanks for your input Marianne and Fran. Marianne, it looks like some winter weather forecast for our area tonight and tomorrow. I wonder how wrong they will be this time?

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 05:31 pm:

Let me add my 2cts....I don't know about Atlanta getting a lot of snow, but I'm sure there was a great deal of snow that hit parts of Alabama a few weeks ago. Lived in northern Alabama for awhile and they do get an occasional snowfall, but nothing like what you get UP here. Having heavy, continual rains here in southern Ohio today...lots of flooding.

Sorry to do this personal note to BJ in Milford, would use your profile if you had one. From your post last Thursday on wearing the wooden shoes, I assume you are female, went to Dollar Bay school and also knew the Franz family, You also Know Chuck and Pat. Curiosity has the best of me, do you know me? Jerry and Chris bought my childhood home in Dollar Bay. My e-mail is there if you want to tell me that way, incase you don't want all to know you know me.

Beautiful pics of beautiful creatures! However they are notorious for having Mange! The reason for that nowadays is the severe competition with Coyotes, which usually win out. Without adequate food and natural shelter places their resistance is low making them very prone to Mange and other ailments. Also the reason Foxes have literally disappeared in some areas!

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 09:21 pm:

Just got home from township meeting. Just in time as it is raining and freezing on the roads. 30 MPH tops.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 09:34 pm:

From what I've heard thru the years, when coyotes over run an area then the foxes disappear. Used to have foxes out by my house. Neighbor even saw one chasing our dog across the top of a hill once. He said it was a funny sight. That was 30 years ago.
