The first thing that came to mind was the episode with Tom Sawyer letting his friends paint the fence. What a great idea to move out that surplus snow... give it away!

Marc Norton sent us this brilliant example of yooper marketing in front of Copper Island Printing in Calumet. Marc has actually appeared on these pages before, somewhere back there in the archive of 182,523 pictures over the last 10 years, a number of them dealing with hockey. Mark was the guy in the striped shirt, as he puts in a lot of ice time with a whistle.

We've had a real outpouring of feedback on our new "Pasty Cameo" feature, and a few technical glitches along the way to get it going. Today's will be just a bit delayed. Maybe by the time we reach the 10 year mark at the end of this month, we'll have it down to a science.

Here's a bit of trivia... Does anyone know when the first "Big Picture" appeared on the Pasty Cam? I'll give you a hint: It was toward the end of the first year, and it had to do with snow (what a surprise).

I love the Yooper ingenuity! Instead of "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade" it is "when life gives you snow, make snowmen!"

We bought some "fish-head" style can coolers at that gift shop while vacationing in Copper Harbor!

Today, I'm going to borow my neighbor's backhoe to move some of the snow from my front yard, so the pix was PERFECT!! Now all I've got to do is dress for the -9 temp, and boil some coffee. Any takers for that are welcome to my front yard, not too many places to put snow and I can't see very well getting out so time to hack it down some. I saw a sign the other day but don't remember where that simply said "No snow", they were unsuccessful since there was plenty in the yard.

Big snow is inconvenient for commuting and needing to shovel, but it's preferable to other severe weather, such as tornadoes. I moved from Michigan to Tennessee last year and it's "Here we go again" with the tornado warnings. Today makes the third time in the last month that we've had tornado warnings. The yoopers may have their big snow, but at least they rarely need to worry about a tornado hitting in the middle of the night. I'll take the snow any day. This evening's Tennessee festivities include tornadoes scheduled to roll through during sleeping hours. Wisconsin is supposed to get 20 inches of snow tonight, but that's party time compared to sudden tornadoes at night.

Hey Snowman- Ya think? That would be worth waiting up for.

Tim Holland, you're very right about the different weather problems we face each day, week, season. I'm not saying that the cold and snow is comfortable, they can both be as lethal as any other situation Mother Nature might serve up on any given day. However, compared with hurricanes that rip entire communities from their foundations, tornados that do the same on a much more concentrated level, and Tsumanis that wash towns from their beachfront economic bases; snow is more or less God's way of telling us all to slow down. Even here in Colorado, I guess I wouldn't trade. Good luck tonight. God bless; may you all stay safe and rest well.

Tim, I'm with ya. My Mom moved to Tennesse 10 years ago and has not convinced me to go, I like our boring weather here. So what it snows? No Tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes...
