Yes, Grumpy Old Men is a classic for sure. The tepee shelters aren't common in my neck of the woods. Stick-built shanties (like in the movie) and collapsible shelters are the norm. I like the idea, though. They are light, easily stowed and can be inexpensively made......one of the joys of ice fishing, making your own equipment. Looking at the design of them (tepee), one would think a strong wind from the right direction would create a venturi effect and suck fish right outta the hole! I like the idea.... ;-)

Ahh, ice fishing, brings back so many good memories. There was one winter in particular that I am very fond of. I was ice fishing in a lake in the UP having the time of my life when the game warden approached me. He asked me for my permit and I politely told him that I wasn't fishing, I was just drowning my worm.
