I lost my mom on Jan 8th. My mother started getting sick on Sat. morning and then went to the doctor on Monday to get checked out. They put her in the hospital early in the afternoon. She passed away 14 hours later. I live about a 3 hour drive away and was able to get to the hospital 3 hours before she left us. My dad called Monday night telling me that she was in the hospital and that the doctors don't think she would make it to the morning. He told me that I should get on the road. There was no way that I was going to be able to drive across the state, so two of my friends; one in my car and one in another car drove over to the hospital in Muskegon. We left around 8pm and they did not get back home until 2am after driving 6 hours. I found out that friends will do just about anything when you need help. I was glad that I was able to get there before she passed away. I really miss my mom. The last three weeks have been a hard time.

Mrs Koepel....what a great teacher. I had her from '63-'65 in the 4th and 5th grade in $ Bay. There were over 40 of us in the combined class during one of those years. She kept us in line, taught us well and made sure we all participated in the Christmas program - (I was a Dutch girl complete with wooden shoes.) I wonder if there is anyone out there that remembers the play and their role? She was truly amazing.

My dad, Bill 'Moon' Mullen, of Franklin Mine and Michigam Tech died January 4, 1962. Some in the Copper Country may remember him. I still miss him terribly, but at 17 I was too young to really get it. This year on the 4th of January we had to euthanize our beloved pet, hunting dog, and companion, Samantha Banana Montana. I get it now. The pain of the loss is awful. I/we miss her terribly too.

It is a sad day to see John Landerville's name here. John was a man who took the most out of life and has done much work in his life for humanity. My favorite memories of John will be our adventures kayaking the shores of Lake Superior. He was always quick with a laugh, a smile and a joke when you were trying to make "one more mile". Goodbye John and safe journeys as you start on your next adventure.
