Everywhere you look in the Copper Country you'll ghosts of the past, the glory days of the mining boom. It's an awesome place to visit, and even more awe inspiring to live here.

When will that engine return? I remember pictures of it on its way
to be fixed up, but I always thought it was expected to return.
We used to stop and visit it (especially when our children were
young) nearly every summer.

Good morning!

The Christmas train comes through Annandale tonight. It's been coming every year and every year I wimp out because it's cold. We'll see what happens tonight. I REALLY want to see it. They stop and play Christmas songs, and it's all lit up. Maybe I won't be a wimp because I don't go in to work until 11 tomorrow. Doesn't that sound awesome? Does anybody else get to witness that?

Wasn't that ol' Copper Range #29, seen here at her new home at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum, in North Freedom, WI?

If so, I thought that was a one-way trip, never to return.

My, but there's a lot of folks up early today, busy posting while I was assembling my previous post, even!

There is a snowmobile trail that runs along where this old train sits, we have stopped a lot of times as we snowmobiled by to check it out, looks so sad rusting away.

Good Morning everyone.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 09:05 am:

good morning from Berkley where it is starting to snow. Dark and dank out side, Jimmie the fat white cat is in his bed right up next to the register. That cat never leaves the register as long as the furnace is running. He hears the click before the furnace starts to blow and heads to his bed for the heat. I suppose I could raise the heat above sixty eight for him but then I would be uncomfortable.

Back in the 80's I took a great photo of my dog posing as engineer of #29. I managed to get her in the engineer's seat and sit still long enough for me to get back outside and get the shot.

Frnash: Thanks for the tip. I checked out all of those sites upon
my return from work. Somehow I had never realized that Copper
Range 29 was never coming back to the Copper Country. Maybe
one of these days I'll go visit her in her new location.
