Just up ahead on Garden City Road is where the snowmobile route turns out of the woods, along the road to the Eagle Harbor cut-through. As we've noted recently, there's a lot more snow this year than there was 8 years ago.

Welterweight Champ Floyd Mayweather (39-0)gives credit to the U.P. He beat Britain's Ricky Hatton (43-1) last night after his stint on Dancing with the Stars. His quote: "He was definitely the toughest competitor I ever faced," Mayweather said. "I was throwing body shots, and he kept coming. I see now why they call him the 'Hitman.' But then I threw the check hook. They teach us that in northern Michigan in the amateurs, and he walked right into the shot. He never saw it coming."

The above pic shows snow (and scenery) about as we have down here in St. Clair county on the backroads! Supposed to change though by tonight!

FYI: Of interest to those traveling north and south in trolland next year.
The Zilwaukee Bridge will be closed in January to May for repairs! There are alternate routes. (always has been, we take them often just to be different!)

Perhaps MDOT has more on this on their page.

I was supposed to pick up my husband at the Flint Airport (coming from Jacksonville to Atlanta to Flint) at noon. They were rerouted due to the "bad weather" in Flint. Well, it's 2:30 and there is no bad weather here or in Lansing west of here. They're coming in to Detroit Metro and then Lansing where my oldest dtr. who is with him lives. Anyone seeing any bad weather down here yet?

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, December 9, 2007 - 02:44 pm:

Hey Marsha, it's cloudy here but no bad weather that I can see. We are about 25 miles SE of the Lansing airport.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, December 9, 2007 - 02:52 pm:

I looked at the radars, Marsha. It looks like Lansing and Flint had a little bit of snow, but it should not have been enough to cause a problem, unless the airlines and pilots were from Atlanta or south of there. (Oops, sorry Fran & all.) Ironically, Detroit would have been the one more apt to have icing problems.
http://www.wnem.com/wxmap/4290883/detail.html

I would think any commercial plane coming in from Atlanta would have wing de-icing capabilities. Wing icing would have been the only thing that I might have thought about worrying about. Maybe it was easier for the airline to blame the delay on the weather than on a mechanical problem, or something?

I hope they have a good trip home! Please let us know how your injured daughter is doing. Hang in there, Marsha!
