The performance was brilliant and the score was decisive last night at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. For the first time since 1991 Michigan Technological University defeated the defending NCAA champions from Michigan State University, 4-1. The Spartans had beat the Huskies in the prior 11 meetings, and last night that streak ended with a bang. How the mighty have fallen!

But look out Huskies, you'll have your work cut out tonight as you face top-ranked University of Michigan. We'll be watching (Fox Sports Network) and listening (Mix 93.5 FM via Pasty.NET) to the excitement.

Thanks to Tanya Voldarski for a Husky memory from the Guest Gallery

Congratulations Huskies on a fine victory last night. There is some pretty good college hockey played in the State of Michigan.

It was a great game! I watched the whole game last night on FSN, and my son called immediately after the game to make sure that we knew they had won, and a decisive victory, at that! (He was at the Joe with a bunch of his friends last night, watching the game. I'm not sure if they are coming back today, or if they are staying for tonight's game.) Charlie, is tonight's game on the Detroit FSN channel again? I had heard that something else was already on that channel for tonight, so that tonight's GLI championship game was moved to another channel?

A huge congratulations are in order for the Huskies' Hockey team! And, they were playing with their second goalie because their first one injured his knee in the NMU game. Nolan, their second goalie, played a great game, and made some great saves! Way to go, Huskies!!!

I have great memories of watching the Huskies back in the 70's and 80's in the arena at Tech.
Go Huskies!!!

Sorry, Charlie. I just followed your link, and your link is good, it goes to FSN Plus. I knew that the FSN Detroit channel that I had watched the game on last night was going to broadcast something else, but you gave the right link. Sorry! :-)

The MTU-UM game will be broadcast live on FSNPlus which is comcast/local channel 8 on comcast. It will be repeated at midnight on FSN, after the Wings game in Colorado. And, like Charlie said, Mix93 will have the live radio broadcast on Pasty.net at 7:30 P.M..

Watch out where the Huskies go
and don't you eat that yellow snow!

Heck of a game, I was rooting for MTU, even though I went to NMU, I was hoping to see the host of the tournament win, it's like a home game for UofM or MSU, we really need to see both Tech and Northern come down and smoke these boys! Kinda like the U.P. takin on the Trolls!

IF THE GAME IS PLAYED ON ICE HOW CAN ICING BE A BAD THING?? FROM BALMY INDIANA, WHERE NOT ONE KID IN A THOUSAND HAS A PAIR OF ICE SKATES AND THE PONDS ARE USUALLY LUKE WARM. CONGRATS TECH.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, December 30, 2007 - 07:56 am:

Congratulations, Huskies! They held #1 Michigan scoreless for over 82 minutes of playing time, in double overtime! And they beat #5 Michigan State the night before. The Michigan Tech Huskies played an awesome game, and made us proud! That, and Nolan, Tech's goalie, played every second of that game against Michigan, a very long game! He made 45 saves last night against Michigan. You go, Huskies!
