Our first picture features a Chickadee that has a better view from its perch than many of us have from our front windows. Since Donna MacIntosh snapped this photo, I'm going to assume she has this same view from a lofty lookout in Baraga. Of course when the leaves are on the trees, the view may not be so open, but for the winter months it's really quite the scene looking across Keweenaw Bay.
Chickadees are fun little birds to watch flitting back and forth to the feeders and if you're as patient as Ken Scheibach, you just might catch one with its dinner in beak, ready to feast upon it. Through the technology of a telephoto lens, Ken seems close enough to have a taste too!
Today's last shot is from Brenda Leigh and was actually sent to me as a cute little Christmas greeting. I couldn't resist sharing it with you, since it went along with today's Chickadee theme so well. Brenda's feathered friend is well prepared for the winter weather here UP North!

Even with it's extra insulation that 3rd bird looks a little stiff.

Love bird pictures any time, and the 3rd one started my day with a good laugh. Thanks.

Cool pictures, Donna Mac, Brenda, and Mary: thank you very much! Johnofmi, so you're saying the third little guy is a stiff, LOL?

Chickadees are really cute. They can rather easily be trained to land on your hand to feed. Always remind me of the CC even when I see them at our feeder her in GB.

You have my childhood favorite bird today: the Chickadee. My godmother introduced me to them when I was very small and they have been my favorite ever since. Holy cow! and a dressed up partner for the day. Isn't he dapper.

Brenda, how'd you get that bird to hold still long enough for you to dress him?!
By paul (Pungvait) on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 - 03:39 pm:
just like dressing a turkey, only smaller???

Marsha, It is called magic dust... White powder.. as they really like snow. It was just beginning to snow lightly when I took this photo.
