McLain State Park is the host site for the Keweenaw Upper Entrance Light, as seen in this colorful photo from Grant Soehnel. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. With the setting sun creating such a beautiful hue for the backdrop, the ice buildup takes on a deep blue tint, hinting at the color of the water hidden below. Now, if you look real close on the right side of the photo, you'll see why I mentioned Grant having been in the "right place"... can you spot the splash emerging from below the ice floe?
