The Ambassador Restaurant in Houghton is where you'll find these guys hard at play, just as they were eight years ago on the Pasty Cam. There are some work scenes on the walls, too.

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - 07:25 am:

No one who visits the copper country should miss the Ambassador! All the murals are fascinating. It has a great nostalgiac atmosphere with the original fittings and stained glass, and GREAT PIZZA! also excellent lasagne, ravioli, and subs, but I can't get past the pizza.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - 07:35 am:

Tonite the baking tournament begins with me, so today I am wishing everyone a joyous Thanksgiving Day with all the blessings that go with your Thanksgiving!!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - 07:38 am:

Good morning! Maija gives sound advice. The Ambassador has wonderful food. Another great place for good Italian food is Gino's on the other side of the bridge. You can't lose either way.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - 08:09 am:

And just to whet your appetite for an Ambassador's tostada pizza: http://gallery.pasty.com/marsha/100_0838.jpg.html

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - 08:47 am:

I don't know Maija, I can't get past the Ambassador subs and then a good fishbowl to wash it all down. Definitely one of our favorite places to visit while in the copper country...

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - 09:02 am:

Hope everyone has a good holiday tomorrow. Got a lot of chores to get ready for tomorrow and start the cooking when Precious gets home she doesn't trust me to start without her.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - 09:07 am:

Can't call it a real trip to the Copper Country without a visit to the Ambassador for lasagne! It would be like Thanksgiving without lefse!!
Mr. Deb

Could that be a spitoon on the ground at the bottom of the picture?

Hunting camp? Where's the beer?

I remember coming to Pasty.net and seeing this picture as the picture of the day. Sure doesn't seem like it's been 8 years tho.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

A spittoon (or spitoon) is a receptacle made for spitting into, especially by users of chewing tobacco. It is also known as a cuspidor.Good eye,
there Matt.Guy's playing cards,and enjoying some ale,maybe it's a can of woop-butt.

Nice weather here in E.TN. High's in low 70's and the low's is 50* F.Calling for T-storms overnite.
Buckel Up,may your dive be safe, and may your brown & serve roll's come out golden.

I will forever remember the day inside the Ambassador, when a high wind-storm came down thru the canal. It was pre- 1972 ? I will forever miss being home for the holiday's.[ Dollar Bay ]

By Snowman (Snowman) on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 - 05:28 pm:

T for time to be together, turkey, talk, and tangy weather.
H for harvest stored away, home, and hearth, and holiday.
A for autumn's frosty art, and abundance in the heart.
N for neighbors, and November, nice things, new things to remember.
K for kitchen, kettles' croon, the kids and grandkids expected soon.
S for sizzles, sights, and sounds, and something special that abounds.
That spells ~~~THANKS---for joy in living and a jolly good Thanksgiving.

Another name for that 'receptacle' that I remember from my sailing days was the 'garboon'. ?? I wouldn't have wanted to be the one who had to polish that thing. :o) But it was nice and shiney.
Nice little 'Thanks' poem, Snowman.
