A Coast Guard boat in the Portage Canal, just before sunrise on this day back in 1999. You can faintly see the Lift Bridge in the background.

Good morning from San Jose!

By Heikki (Heikki) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 06:35 am:

Looks like the USCGC Sundew, decommissioned in 2004.

By timd (Timd) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 07:11 am:

Good morning from Kingsford!

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 08:40 am:

Good Morning everyone! 30 degrees and cloudy here in Houghton.

Congrats to Steve on the Night Owl and Early Bird!!!!!

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 08:53 am:

History repeats itself! The nighttime shot of the Coast Guard cutter above was from eight years ago, and it just so happens this week that R C Wetton was at the same spot, and grabbed this picture of the Cutter Adler:

Adler

Looks like RCW is standing at the Smart Zone parking lot, pointing up the canal away from the bridge.

Good morning everybody. Spent yesterday putting the tree together so the grandkids will be excited on Thanksgiving and I can get some pictures of all of them under the tree. I do love this time of year in spite of the weaather.

Everybody have a great Sunday.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 09:33 am:

Good Morning, Everyone from cloudy mid-Michigan, where it is 35 now. Congrats to Steve on getting both the Night Owl & Early Bird stickers, in one post--that's unusual.

A huge congratulations to Midland High School on their Division 2 Semifinals win over Lowell (31-28) in Lansing yesterday! Now, it's on to Ford Field in Detroit on Friday at 1 pm, for their first trip since 1993. Way to go, team!

By Bob Tiura (Bobtiura) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 10:14 am:

Charlie, one small correction. The cutter is the Alder.

By RCW (Rcw) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 10:22 am:

Oops, I think I goofed on that to Charlie. I knew better too.

By Erica - Florida Keys (Erica) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 04:46 pm:

It is a lazy Sunday afternoon here. The lull before the storm(Thanksgiving)when lazy will turn to busy. Hope everyone is enjoying a fine day...wherever you are.

By Snowman (Snowman) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 05:56 pm:

Who would have thunk it, Seahawks 17, Bears 17. Maybe the Bears have come out of hibernation.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 09:57 pm:

Unless I am Goofy, and it went over my head. I see no goof! It is the Coast Guard Cutter Adler,in the daylite picture.

Very nice day in E. Tennessee outside today.

David, it is a swap of the "D" and "L" in the word "ALDER". It is not the "Adler" but instead the "Alder". The Alder was the replacement of the Sundew.

By Steve Haagen (Radsrh) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 10:51 pm:

Snowman I think the Bears are in hibernation

By FJL (Langoman) on Sunday, November 18, 2007 - 11:14 pm:
