A delayed report on the pumpkin carving contest in Eagle Harbor appeared on this date in 1999.

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 08:37 am:

Good Morning. I see the SNOWMAN in the middle of the steps. Was that his first appearance on the Pasty?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 09:00 am:

Good morning from MN.

So, who won the contest???

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 09:34 am:

Good Morning, Everyone! Congratulations, Theresa on your Early Bird. Nice pumpkin picture. Happy Saturday, and have a good weekend, everyone!

By Erica - Florida Keys (Erica) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 09:44 am:

Kosk in Toronto. We really did have a wonderful time. I don't know how many times Bill and I agreed that "it doesn't get any better than this!"

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 02:19 pm:

By the looks of west bound I-96 there must be something going on in East Lansing! Go Blue.

How come the handrail casts such a crooked shadow??

How did the Dow team do Marianne? I've been transplanting trees all day and haven't read the LSJ yet?

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 02:52 pm:

Go Blue! Go Blue! Go Blue!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 03:04 pm:

Thanks for asking Paulwebbtroll. Midland High beat Dow High several weeks ago, knocking them out of the playoffs. There is a very serious cross-town rivalry there, LOL. (Midland has 2 high schools, to the surprise of many, me included.)

Midland High (now 9-2) beat Bay City Central High in Bay City last night, 48 to 6, winning the Saginaw Valley League title. We play at home for the Regional game this coming week, I think against Davison. :-)

By Snowman (Snowman) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 04:38 pm:

Theresa, that's not me but it is a relative, we're an integrated family. :>)

As for who won the contest? Silly question, the best looking dude on the steps, the "Snowman".

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 06:19 pm:

I want to thank Charlie and whover else should be thanked for running the airport web cam the way it was this afternoon. I lucked into seeing my son's NW plane from Minneapolis arrive, with the hookups made, to seeing the doors opened & kids disembarking, to a refueling truck, etc. I later saw the plane closed up, ready for departure, with its props spinning. That means a lot to a mom who hasn't seen her son since mid-August, and won't again until Thanksgiving week, because of his work schedule, etc. I do talk to him via IM several times a week, but that's different. (He was returning to Houghton, from Detroit & a job interview. He was told he is being offered the job, and the details will come early next week.) Anyway, even though I did not actually get to see my son himself, I got to see a number of the other kids getting off the plane. So I really do thank you!

Kind of a late reminder, but don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour tonight. Remember, "Fall behind" in the fall. Which means an extra hour of sleep tonight! Yippeeee! :->

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 08:11 pm:

Mary,I just finished setting our clocks back one hour. Thanks for the heads up though.
Congratulations Midland High and all the other high school winners also!

Go BLUE!!!!! Close game.

By k j (Kathiscc) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 08:20 pm:

Yes, Blue won! State gets beat in the last 90 seconds. Yay!

By Happy to be in the U.P. (Lahelo) on Saturday, November 3, 2007 - 09:11 pm:

Fall you fall back! That is right Mary!
Spring you spring foreward!

By Tom Karjala (Tom) on Sunday, November 4, 2007 - 08:55 am:

Did Pasty Central forget to change clocks back? Nothing on line at this time.

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, November 4, 2007 - 09:19 am:

Tom - See the note on the main Pasty Cam page. Today's Shoebox Memory will be from a 100 year anniversary program this morning at First Baptist in Calumet.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, November 4, 2007 - 08:22 pm:

Hooray for the Wolverines yesterday. I wasn't home to get on here and send my congratulations their way. I love the Spartans except when they're playing the Wolverines.

How 'bout those Lions???? YES!!! And I loved the good old Wolverine's boy, Tom Brady, bringing the Patriots back in the 4th quarter. Go Tommy Boy!!!! Too bad the Lions didn't recognize him as the prospect he was.
