Getting ready to put on my costume for school. This year I'm going
as a miner--with an old mining helmet and one of those lunch
pails that were so handy for toting pasties. Have to get to school
early. We're having a Halloween breakfast with tombstones (French
toast with RIP written in chocolate) and fingers (sausages).

That red and green must mean: Christmas is on its way.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 07:39 am:

Happy Halloween!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 07:49 am:

Good morning! Good one Margaret. I've definitely been thinking about Christmas and trying to get my shopping done early because we'll be busy in December.

Anyway, Happy Halloween! Hope all the little ones have a lot of fun tonight!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 08:28 am:

LOL, Margaret. That's the logic my special needs son would use: anything to get to Christmas! He started talking about putting up our Christmas tree yesterday, but he said that he knew we won't put it up at least until after Thanksgiving, (but preferrably not until after Dec 1). In his mind, it all comes back to Christmas. :-)

That volunteer maple tree is pretty, entwined with the two evergreens. They could be Christmas trees, or not. I do love autumn reds near greens, especially evergreens. Nice photo composition. :-)

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 10:34 am:

Happy Halloween! I have to have my "A" game on tonight to keep up with Venom as he runs through town, God help me. Having the neighbor pass out my candy for me since I refuse to be a deadbeat and only collect it. Everyone be safe!

The JOHN J. BORLAND is just dropping her anchor in Bete Grise Bay as the winds are picking up.

By Bob Gilreath (Bobg) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 11:05 am:

LOL hang onto those little Ghosts tonight
or they may really be flying ;-)

West winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 to 50 mph will
increase to 30 to 40 mph late this afternoon into this
evening with gusts as high as 55 mph possible. The winds will
diminish after midnight tonight as they shift to the northwest.
The strongest winds will be along the shore on the west side of
the Keweenaw peninsula... over west facing higher terrain from Twin
Lakes to Calumet and Phoenix... and through the Portage Canal.

Gettin' ready for the trick-or-treaters, hope I don't scare the little boogers away, I dressed as myself tonight.

Why didn't the skeleton dance at the party?
He had no body to dance with.

Happy Halloween

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 08:36 pm:

Well, in spite of not friendly kid weather, rain & wind, we had 57 Trick or Treaters who braved the weather. That is a little bit light for recent years--a number in the 80's would have been more normal. Years ago, we used to get close to 130. The numbers in recent years have been down since some new housing went in north of us and there have been more organized community and church Halloween parties. Happy Halloween, you all!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 09:20 pm:

I just shut off the lights a few minutes ago. We had 64 trick-or-
treaters tonight. Not bad. My favorite was a little guy dressed up
as a skunk. He arrived with his mom at 8:45. She had a very heavy
accent. It was their first Halloween in North America.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 - 09:31 pm:

Sorry for the late post, but we've had a busy day. WOW,what a game monday night!! After that pass in ot, you could have heard a pin drop from the bronco's fans........

Anyways, the Dr. and I are in Salida, CO tonight. Today, we played around the Leadville area and hiked around at 11,000 ft in the mountains. We also drove over Loveland Pass in the snow so now we can say we saw snow this year.

Tomorrow is somemore mountain climbing and general playing in the Rockies before beginning our return to the flatlands of Texas.........
