Cold, wet, Superior rocks piled onto the Pasty Cam eight years ago. Every now and then we toss in a few more.

By Norma in Midland (Normainmidland) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 09:51 am:

Good Morning all, from cloudy Florida. I go back to Michigan today. Down seeing my daughter that lives here. Where do I retire too? UP or Florida? Can we do both, honey??

By Paul Oesterle (Paulwebbtroll) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 09:51 am:

Good morning every one!

By Trb0013 (Trb0013) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 10:23 am:

Good Morning from Florida. Where I am not retired.... But if I had my drothers, I WOULD have both. Thanksgiving in the UP and Christmas and Easter in Florida. Is 'drothers' a real word?

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 10:41 am:

Good Morning, Everyone! It is nice, but cool here, for now, but that will soon change. Deb's rain is heading our way, as we have rain in the forecast every day now.

Charlie, I love your hands full of rocks picture! I am a huge fan of Lake Superior rocks!

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 10:43 am:

That is a shot from Rose Riemer, who has contributed many nice photos over the years. Actually, it may have been taken by her mom Peg.

By David S. (Yooperdfs) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 10:43 am:

I may have the very good fortune to retire in both, Florida and the U.P. My grandparents did it way back in the 1960's and I knew then that they had it right. I have about another 5 years to go but I do have both homes now. It truly is the best of both worlds. The plan is May to Thanksgiving in the U.P. and then the remainder in Florida. I've traveled all over this country and I can't think of a better summertime place than the Keweenaw, hands down. I have been blessed.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 10:46 am:

What I'm wondering is, is Charlie throwing the rocks INTO Lake Superior or into a pasty rock collection or something. Because I really think Lake Superior has enough rocks. LOL Couldn't resist, Charlie. I wondered that ever since I read it.

By Trb0013 (Trb0013) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 11:05 am:

Maybe with the increase of everyone bringing home UP rocks has resulted in the shore line increase? And not just the dip in water in the Lake. ;-) Just kidding folks..... I am guilty of more than one trip to the Keweenaw with the shocks on my truck seriously in jeopardy of not making it back home. I just as much love the raw Iron Ore that can be found just laying around in the lower counties. That's my two postings for the day... wouldn't want to be blacklisted for posting more. :(

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 11:17 am:

LOL, on the shocks on the truck's being in jeopardy because of the Lake Superior rocks being carried home in it. I think we all have brought home at least a few rocks from UP there. :-)

And,the way I read the Acceptable Use Policy, the limit of two posts per day is ONLY on the Cam Notes page, not on the What's UP page. "On any daily "Cam Notes" page, limit your postings to 2 messages, unless you are the photographer responding to feedback about your photo." The What's UP page is meant to be more flexible for back and for talk.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 11:21 am:

Norma- get back to Midland, you can't retire yet, you're old, but not old enough. Get back to work!

When you do retire, take Florida, the U.P. in mine!

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 11:23 am:

That last post should read "is mine!"

By FJL (Langoman) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 11:42 am:

Nice to see people are reading the Pasty Cam rules. Everything is in easy to understand language, even the part about "chats". Unless some only read what they want to. Have a nice day.:)

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 11:45 am:

Sorry we messed up on the little Chat provision one day this past week. Most on Pasty are guilty of messing up on that one, at one time or another, believe me, though.

Captain Paul keeps trying to convince us that the UP is rebounding from a long gone glacier but we all know its because all us trolls and Captain Paul keep hauling rocks home.

By Eddyfitz (Eddyfitz) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 01:08 pm:

I have 6 siblings retired in Port Charlotte, Fla (I have no plans to follow them) they all started with the Mich-Florida 2 home scene but now just 4 of them stay in Florida year round..Back and forth driving-traveling takes its toll once you reach the mid 70's even as much as one would like to be still staying out at LL-Dreamland or picking thimbleberrys or canning strawberries during the summer months.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 01:48 pm:

I'm not sure about that BobJewell; if I were hauling rocks back home I wouldn't be hauling them far because home for me is the copper country!! :P

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 02:01 pm:

...I have to say I enjoy all the daily good mornings we get and weather reports from around the country (and world sometimes). Not all the talk among family has to be profound.

By Snowman (Snowman) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 02:15 pm:

Hey Everyone! I read that the term "Yooper" didn't originate until 1979. The Escanaba newspaper ran a contest and that's how the term came to be. Is this true?

Florida? What do you do during the winter months, there's no snow. :)

By Snowman (Snowman) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 06:46 pm:

Sigh. The new kid on the block always seems to get ignored. :(

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 10:05 pm:

I see there is still fingernails on the chalk-board today.

If you live in the U.P. and don't have a place to spend Winter in FL. where it is warm, and you can feel the sand between your toes, while sipping on a Margarita, here is a idea.Stay home, turn the heat up high, get a six pack, and stand in the litter box.If you want to see what happened to me while riding my bike today, check out my profile pic.It has been some time since I road a bike.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, October 14, 2007 - 11:08 pm:
