On a recent canoe trip along the Sturgeon River near Chassell, Cari Raboin was treated to some beautiful scenery while paddling. In her first shot, you see mostly greens and some already bare branches. But her second photo, looks like she turned around and was given a glimpse of another world. Where some of the trees were still holding onto their bounty of color, while others had let them float to the ground already. With the wind and rain that pelted us all day yesterday, I can't imagine there is much left on the trees now.

Unmotorized bliss! Just love fall! To see it from the stern of a canoe would make my day.

Very pretty, does anyone know if they have a place that rents out canoes there? All my time spent in chassell as a child was picking berries, beans, peas... so I am clueless

Great pics once again! Autumn has always been my favorite season. Will be coming UP next week - a friend of mine retired & is moving UP there (his dream finally coming true)& I'm helping. Only problem is that I have to return once again to troll land!

the only time I've ever been in a canoe, we capsized...the only good thing is that the water was only a couple of feet deep... but the mud on the bottom was deep and slimy.
They used to rent rowboats on the lakeshore in Chassell ... not sure about canoes..but there must be canoe rental up there somewhere...maybe Houghton or Hancock...you could paddle all the way over there.
