If you happened to be out and about this past Tuesday morning around 8:00 a.m., you were witness to a spectacular light show. I caught the sun coming up over the horizon in my rearview mirror, as I drove up the hill from Lake Linden to Calumet. It was coloring the entire sky bright orange and at the same time it was raining, causing one of the most beautiful rainbows I've ever seen, to arch across the sky in front of me. Of course I didn't have my camera along, but thanks to Paul Roberts, who did, we get a picture of part of the rainbow from his street in Laurium. That rainbow looks like it's coming straight out of the steeple of the Apostolic Lutheran Church, which is fitting for such a heavenly sight!
Paul also sent me an updated photo of the Eagle River Falls. With the abundance of rainfall lately the falls are once again rushing and gushing with water, which is a much improved sight over the dismal looking shot of that same falls, back on August 28th of this year.

Awesome picture with the rainbow that appears to come from the church steeple! And I know a number of people UP there who are very glad the rainbow was there, because it has rained and stormed too much of late, after a period of drought.
It is great to see the water flows flowing again. They look a lot healthier in the updated picture than when we were there the end of June. Yes, Mary, the YouTube, cell phone video came through just fine, complete with audio. I wish I could be up there! Thank you, Paul Roberts & Mary, for today's pictures and video!

Everybody loves rainbows I think. It just brings the promise of new things to come. And I do love the sound of the Eagle River Falls. There's nothing like the sound of any waterfalls. Thanks you guys.

Both pictures are great, nice to see the falls back. They were just a trickle when we were up there.

The video sounded WONDERFUL! Hope to get up to the Eagle River Falls within the next few days and so happy to see it's come back from the dry spell. Beautiful picture and unique to have the video. Thank you!

Wow, that truly is the proverbial Pot 'o gold at the end of the Rainbow, eh?
Love the shot of the falls too. The last time I was up that way, they looked like the August pic. Nice to see them running a bit wild again :-)
Can't view the video because its blocked here at work :-(

Beautiful picture, that same rainbow was seen in Houghton... it went right over the bridge, and it looked like the pot of gold would have been in Hancock. What a beautiful way to start the morning.

MTU's Ripley Cam is showing a beautiful golden view of this morning UP there. Looks like a great day ahead.
What are you talking about Helen? It's the snow pics after February that are the best! :-) It's when it gets to March and early April when the snow is melting and its all dirty and black. That's what I don't like! But whatever the season it's always great to be here in the Keweenaw!
