Good morning... a little history of Plumbing for all interested. A Single Plain-End of a length of Pipe, where water comes out that is drinkable, is refered to as a Spigot' by the Plumbing trade. People who have overheard the Plumber this word have used "Spicket" to refer to all utility valves. I have even had customers say "My Kitchen Spicket is leaking". This has been for hundreds of years mostly because rural residents would have water from their pitcher pump run thru a pipe to a kitchen window for an indoor Water Spigot. Just thought you would like to know. :)

Good Morning, cool today.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - 08:41 am:

You know it is cool when my youngest son complains that he got cold yesterday when he wore shorts. He's wearing jeans today. And, it's cold in our house. I'm about ready to turn on the furnace, just to take the chill off this morning. Hmm, it's Sept 11. That's a little bit early. I remember when I refused to turn it on until Oct 1, on general principle. I guess I'm just getting older, or maybe just colder. :-)

My youngest gets a piece of paper from his driver's ed teacher tonight, that will allow him to drive with his parents only, since he has completed 2 hours driving time and 10 hours classroom time. The instructor says that he's a better than average driver. It's still a scary thought... He is still in class for most of the month.

That is a very interesting website, for everyone to leave Finland and go to Australia!

Janie, that is not a brittany but a beagle mix. Seney is now 12 years old, has numerous fattie tumors and has had Cushings disease for 5 years now. But she still is my baby and a brat. We have another dog, a little guy that looks like Benjie. I think that he is keeping Seney youthful and has been a joy to have. But he is a squealer. When Seney gets into something she shouldn't, Rusty comes yapping to me with this "I am telling bark" and sure enough, the older one is into something, either snatching food off of the counter top, eating Rusty's food, or just plain mischevious.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - 01:30 pm:

Carole, I love your descriptions of your Seney & Rusty! I loved about your "I am telling bark"! Sunny, my Lhasa, has what I call her "enforcing bark". If I ask one of my sons to do something, when I finish telling him what I want him to do, then she starts barking at him, like she's telling him, "Well, what are you waiting for? Go do what Mom told you to do!" She really is cute when she does it. She is probably the best behaved dog we have ever had, and we did not obedience train her, either. :-)

Carole, I'm sorry about the breed mix-up! Her head shape and her coloring look a lot like the Britt. Our 10 1/2 yr. old Doberman Pinscher has those benign fatty lumps too, even tho he is at his ideal weight. He also has a thyroid condition that is easy to maintain with 2 pills daily. He gets his daily "charge up" and is left with no time to be a senior citizen with our 2 and 5 yr. old Scotties, the Scotts won't give him that opportunity! All three can cover our 20 acre farm in no time!

I, too have found the youngsters keep the older dogs interested and invigorated. Three years ago I bought a Welsh Terrier pup as a pet for my then 10 yr old Airedale...she is still waiting for him to go "home". Seriously, he often engages her in doggie games. There is such dignity in the old dogs; just have to hug 'em.
