The Pasty Cam passed through Greenland Township 8 years ago today. Here's another view down the main drag, with a rare glimpse of the Pasty Camist at work.peek-a-boo

Top o' the mornin' from lovely NW Illinois. The river is like a mirror this a.m. Wished it was the Big Lake I was looking over tho. Safe weekend everyone.

Good Morning, Everyone! It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood today, here in mid-Michigan! I hope you all have a safe & great long weekend.

Happy Night Owl, Pennie. That's a cool idea, Charlie! I guess I'm just curious why so many people are up in the middle of the night? :-)

Good Morning. Nice article about UP in the latest issue of AAA's "Home and Away."

The article should have been longer.

By Pennie (Trolldiva) on Saturday, September 1, 2007 - 08:59 am:

I am only a night owl because Abby's allergies have been so bad the last couple weeks, she is not sleeping well. Hope it gets better before school starts.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, September 1, 2007 - 09:37 am:

That's a bummer, Pennie. Maybe it's time for a visit to the doctor or the allergy doctor for Abbie? A change in meds may help a lot. I hope she feels better, soon. I have allergies, too, and they are no fun.

By Happy to be in the U.P. (Lahelo) on Saturday, September 1, 2007 - 09:51 am:

Charlie that town is Mass City not Greenland. Greenland is Greenland Township. Please get your towns straight around where "I" live.

By Happy to be in the U.P. (Lahelo) on Saturday, September 1, 2007 - 09:54 am:

Oops, Greenland is a city and a township too!

Paulwebbtroll - I wasn't ready for that! I just finished a mound of paperwork that had to be submitted by Aug 31, hooray! I was looking forward to having the weekend to relax. Thinking about Christmas will have wait for a bit; after all it is nearly four months off!

I have what should be a quiet house to myself today, as my special needs middle son is out working on his Eagle Scout project, with help from my youngest son & my husband. A quiet house is always nice. :-) Now I should sit down to figure what was not getting done while I was working on the paperwork. I can't go anywhere without my husband, until this dumb back heals, so I will be home. Maybe I will just take the day off to relax and work on a small project. Hmm...

By Pennie (Trolldiva) on Saturday, September 1, 2007 - 11:04 am:

Been there done that Marianne. Actually this last couple of weeks Abby's allergies have been worse then in the spring. During the day she is fine for the most part, it's just at night. Once you have children I dont think that mothers ever really sleep soundly anymore.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, September 1, 2007 - 11:41 am:

Pennie, it is ragweed season now. Plus, with all of the rain some of the southern lower peninsula has had, the molds are very high. But, if Abby's allergies are worse at night, that could be house dust mites, in her pillow, mattress cover, blanket, or stuffed animals, or something. How old is Abby? Has she been tested to see what she is allergic to? If it was more than two years ago, maybe she should be re-tested, as she could have become allergic to things she was not before.

There have been some bad colds going around mid-Michigan late this summer, on top of allergies. These are a real bummer. My youngest son came home from Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp the beginning of August with a wicked head cold, that ended up becoming a sinus & ear infection.

You're right, once you have kids, moms (or at least this mom) never sleep really soundly anymore. And my youngest is 15 (oldest just turned 23). :-) I hope Abby starts feeling better soon.

Oh my goodness! Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32. Can you believe that? Can you say here's your pink slip Lloyd Carr?????? I'm sick! I do love my beloved Wolverines!

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Saturday, September 1, 2007 - 03:50 pm:

Pennie and Marianne, you'll reap the rewards for sleeplessness when you retire. After all those gazillions of times you were awake in the middle of the night for feedings, or waiting for the last teen to stroll in,you'll easily get over the guilt about taking a nap pretty quick. By gosh we earned these naps!

I'm with you, Deb. Carr does not seem to have what it takes to get a great team all the way.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, September 2, 2007 - 09:55 am:

That team never seems prepared to play, no matter how good they are. He should have been gone years ago.

You betcha that's Mass City...my home town. I actually lived 5 miles out in the country from where that picture was taken.
