Let's hop aboard Lynn Virtanen's bright blue kayak once again. This time with a westerly heading, toward Ontonagon. Lynn sent me some general directions, since I had never heard of Wolf Point. Here's what she said,

Go to the Misery River down from Toivola and look toward Ontonagon (West). Wolf Point is a couple miles west of the Misery River and Fourteen Mile Point (with lighthouse) is the next one beyond Wolf, before Ontonagon. I'll go there next.
She is definitely an adventurer when it comes to her kayak and Lake Superior. Lynn also said she likes to be a little quiet about the remote areas that aren't yet polluted and she asked if we humans, when visiting spots such as these, wouldn't mind hauling out any litter or trash we might encounter. Even if it isn't yours

Good Morning.
Neat Pictures, I really like that last one.

Nice pictures from Lynn again. She is much more brave than I am to be out kayaking on that lake when it's probably very cold by now. I've never been to that area I don't think. I've been to Misery Bay, of course, but not where she's talking about.

She sees some amazing spots.

And if you look to your right, Rockhouse Point is on that side. Visited there many times through a hike on the beach! Thanks for the pictures!

Wonderful pictures and good advice to remove any trash we see laying around even tho' it's not ours. Funny story (gross really), the other day I found a big bag of garbage laying right in the road in front of my farm, so I picked it up, and took it back with me to my home in the city. I threw it in my trash receptacle and a few days later I had a lot of uninvited guests, maggots !! Ugh !! Well, not to fear, Lysol was near and today is trash day so they have left my area for good. So, when you pick up trash, don't forget to get rid of it as soon as possible !!

In the first picture, it looks like a life jacket strapped to the top of the kayak. If so, I hope it is an extra jacket and Lynn is also wearing one...

Hey Wabbit! I thought the same thing. I also thought that if that kayak needed a life jacket, I guess I wouldn't want to be in it! The life jacket seems to be on top of the kayak, maybe that would help the kayak right itself if it capsized!

Hope all is well back in the Keweenaw. I'm actually typing this from sunny San Diego, CA, awaiting the return of our son, Greg's Navy Ship. Jim is with him, having gotten on-board in Hawaii on what the Navy calls a "Tiger Cruise". An awesome Father/Son experience that these two won't soon forget!!

Anyway, I just had to share with you all, something I received in my email today, from Joyce Tormala. It had me chuckling, so I figured you folks would enjoy it too! She says this is a friend of hers, surfing at Wolf Point, the same area in the second photo of Lynn's up above here today!

Dan surfing at Wolf Point!
That's just too funny, thanks Joyce!!

Maybe Dan is switching to Geiko.
"Pry yourself off the chair, away from the idiot box and go outside and make use of yourself!" We heard this from our parents and our kids heard it from us,though not often,I'm happy to say.
I borrowed this picture from Dan a few years ago to scan and keep in my folder of smile files. Thanks,Mary, for posting it.
My daughter and I hiked to Wolf Point one fine evening in July. It was a great idea, the only problem being we should have had an earlier start. We roamed the woods and the beach, finally lighting the hot dog fire when the sun was almost to the horizon. We knew it would be a dark hike back to Misery Bay but we didn't care,as long as we were on the sandy beach before the sun was completely gone.
Several "kids" from Jeffers and Tapiola had a beautiful bonfire on the beach. They also had vehicles. We were offered a lift to the mouth of the Misery, which we appreciated greatly, but politely declined. We got left gabbing, you know how that is,and soon it was completely dark. We finally accepted the ride to the Misery. The open-air ride was much easier on the feet. We thanked them over and over and I will say it again:Thanks, kids!
We will keep an eye out for the blue kayak during our future hikes and we'll be sure to give you a holler. Great pictures,Lynn!

What beautiful pictures. I love the colors in that flat rock shore. It
reminds me of one of my favorite places to visit in the U.P.: Seul
Choix.
