You may remember back on March 1,2007, we featured a somewhat "tame" partridge that was hanging out at George and Paulette Beveridge's house in Bootjack. That one actually met with an untimely demise, but there's a new visitor and he's getting what you might say is a "bird's eye" view of the camera lens. The Beveridges also pointed out the strange looking growths on the Hemlock stump the partridge is perched on, along with a couple more shots for a better view of them. So, obviously they're mushrooms right? Or are they?

My goodness! When this bird picture came up, I thought my wife was looking out at me!!!

LOL! Paul, I see nothing but trouble from that observation!

The fungas amoung us.

Very cool picture, Beveridges! My first thought on this morning's picture was we have a partridge in a pear tree, to borrow from the old song. :-)

Paulwebbtroll, you could be in for some trouble at home, LOL!

Y'all know, those mushrooms in the top two pictures look like rubberized space alien feet! All in all, a fun set of pictures for this fall Saturday morning!

My first thought when I looked at this picture was if it was really a partridge or a wooden cut out of one. Like the bear the other day, they are quite tame:)

You've heard of the Petrified Forest ?
What we got are some Petrified Mushrooms !
Funny how they are untouched from any kind of animal or bugs.

"The fungas amoung us."

Is Dave tryin' ta tell us he's a "Fun Guy"?

I like Mariannes observation, looks alien!

By Mr. Bill (Mrbill) on Saturday, September 8, 2007 - 12:24 pm:

These are one of the funniest birds going ...

They either stand frozen in the middle of the road believing that they are invisible to the on-coming car, or at the last minute, run like the cartoon roadrunner across its path.

Possiblly they share "dodo" blood lines.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this picture was the poor little morning dove out on our lawn with a broken wing. My husband has my cat out stalking it. Poor little thing. Wish I could help him (not the cat, the bird). But if it were up to me, we'd have every hurt and stray animal living with us. Nice picture, anyway.

I know how you feel Deb. Altho you can fish where I can't. I know you guys, I'm goofy that way, live with it. Every cat I see in the paper looking for a home I wish I could bring it home. Even the dogs.

Thank goodness my husband didn't see that partridge or else I'd be making soup out of him. It's meat(what there is of it)looks like & tastes like chicken.
And those are stump mushrooms in the other picture. And I WOULDN'T be cooking them in a pot!!!

Does anyone know the names of the kids in the Phoenix school photo posted on 9/2? I'm sure there has to be some Mannisto kids there as my dad, Ralph Mannisto, was born in 1919 and was the youngest of the 11 kids. Just wondering if anyone can help me out. Maybe Neil????
