WHERE'S MY BRIDGE!

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Monday, August 13, 2007 - 05:00 pm:

is the bridge cam down, or is it on my end?

BTW..that is a great photo of Eagle River. That area up there is some of the most scenic around.

Hey Deb ... we must have posted within seconds of each other this morning :) I was going to write some more words, but had that feeling that someone else was typing at the same time, so I slammed it in quick :)

By Russell E. Emmons (Russemmons) on Monday, August 13, 2007 - 07:49 pm:

OK--- I'll bite--- What is that in the upper left of the pic?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, August 13, 2007 - 07:54 pm:

Hey Dave, I had already had a post in and it was AFTER Charlie posted too, but for some reason it disappeared again. Anyway, congrats. I guess I should have kept it short.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Monday, August 13, 2007 - 08:16 pm:

Built a six foot by six foot by two feet deep sandbox for the Ozanich boys, now we need some Lake Superior sand to fill it. Anyone coming down with some in their shoes feel free to shake the sand out of your shoes at my grandkids house. Little project cost over $200 including the sand which we haven't got yet. Berkley is lacking in lake sand.

By David Soumis (Davesou) on Monday, August 13, 2007 - 08:18 pm:

reflection from the window ???

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Monday, August 13, 2007 - 08:19 pm:

Hey Mikie, every time we built a sandbox we filled it with Lake Superior sand. It took a lot of trips out here and different people hauling it, but we always got it done. We still have a garbage can full of the stuff. Nothing like it. Well, the dunes on Lake Michigan were just as nice I guess.

By Theresa R Brunk (Trb0013) on Monday, August 13, 2007 - 08:43 pm:

It looks like the underside of the Left wing of the airplane. Am I right?
Plus great aerial shot. The majesty of the Keweenaw never gets old. Keep those pics coming. My tired eyes are in need of more pastoral sights.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, August 13, 2007 - 10:37 pm:

The bridge cam has been down for a few days. I think it may have to do with the server changeover, etc.

Trb0013, from the first time I saw that picture, I assumed that it is the wing of the airplane, so I think you are right. I really like that picture, where you can see the varying water depths with the crystal clear water!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 12:05 am:

It occurred to me that if the lumber companies were allowed to harvest the burned out forests, to salvage what timber they can, cut down the burned trees and replant some of them, the area might at least look nicer as it goes through it various phases of recovery and growth (ie various forests, maturing).

By Richard A. Fields (Cherokeeyooper) on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 02:04 am:

Marianne,
Believe it or night, environmentalist fight the Forest Service when they try to allow salvage logging in burned out areas. In Oregon a few years ago, after the Biscuit fire, court cases held up salvage logging until the trees had no market value. Over in the Boundary Waters near Ely, Mn, lawsuits held up efforts to clear the massive blowdown they had in 1999 or 2000. As they say, common sense is not too common these days.

(the environmentalist claim salvage logging harms the environment and threatans species.)

By Carole (Carole) on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 08:07 pm:

The picture that was suppose to be for today on the WhatsUp page is of my daughter and her husband taken eight years ago along with the dogs Oakley and Astro at McLain. They all just returned this past Saturday from there but also were my grandchildren Katie who will be three in October and Matthew who will be six in November.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 08:23 pm:

Carole, those are awesome pictures! I love the life jacket on the one dog! What fun! I hope Charlie will show that picture to the group, when the site comes back up.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 09:21 pm:

THANKS THERESA!
