Crystal Falls was put on the Pasty Cam map 8 years ago today, and has had various scenes appear since then.

Been a long time since I've been to Crystal Falls. Have to go there some day.

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 09:55 am:

Good morning. 96° predicted here in the thumb today. Hopefully we will get some rain tonight. I've been watering my garden every 3 days.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 09:57 am:

JH, we've had to water every day, well unless its rained. Yesterday was so hot. We spent about 3 hours in the pool in the afternoon and are paying for it today with burned skin. Supposed to be in the high 90's again today and would love to spend it in the pool again, but don't know if we should chance it. It's just there's so few opportunities, you hate to pass any of them up.

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 10:00 am:

The pool sounds like a good place to be today. You might want to apply some sunscreen often.

By NKR (Nkr) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 10:35 am:

Good morning from Mishawaka IN. The temperature is 82° and it is suppose to get up to 96°. Charlotte, I just read yesterdays What's Up and see your headed for the UP. Lucky you! Have a good and safe trip. Stay cool everyone.

By eugenia r. thompson (Ert) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 10:45 am:

I'm jealous of all you people who can water often; we can water only ONE day a week now in GA. We had a tiny bit of rain early this morning -- would have been nice if it had lasted at least 3 days.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 12:18 pm:

Good afternoon for Mishawaka, IN. The temperature continues to rise. I love the air conditioning when it's this hot.
NKR, thanks for the good wishes on our trip to the UP. The most exciting part is that we will make it to the Keweenaw on the 15th or 16th. Never been there before.
Everyone stay cool and hope rain arrives for those who need it so badly.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 01:03 pm:

Going to keep an eye on the Keweenaw weather reports this week. Daughter #1 is hiking and tent camping the Isle Royal now with her 15 year old dau. Hope it's nice.

By Cheryl Rozman (Cotton) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 01:19 pm:

We had a thunderstorm here in Gwinn in the early hours of the morning along with hail. The size of the hail wasn't as big as the last hailstorm we had on June 20th,last month. We definitely needed the rain. Right now it's cloudy & very humid at 84 degrees.

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 01:28 pm:

There are a lot of communities in this part of the state that have water retrictions. We live in a rural area and have our own deep well, so fortunately we are not restricted. We don't water the yard, just the garden.

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 01:56 pm:

And, Charlotte, if you're in the area, come to the Aura Jamboree on July 21 for an afternoon strolling the grounds of the town hall and hearing some old-time fiddlin', accordion-playing, our FAMOUS bean soup in the big kettle outdoors, and lots more! Aura is north of L'anse on the east side of Keweenaw Bay.

I think today would be a good day to go to the movies, which I seldom do. Might go see 1408.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 02:28 pm:

No water restrictions in our area!! We have had 27 straight days of measureable rain here. Right now the sun is out, but there are a few thicker clouds developing so we may make it 28!! I heard there was 5 inches of rain in 30 minutes on the East side yesterday afternoon.....

The Dr. and I are getting anxious now; 20 days until we're in the copper country and we can't wait. I think the first thing we are doing is when we arrive, we're going straight to waterworks park and watch the sunset. After a 2 day drive, it will be well worth it.....

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 02:42 pm:

We also live in a rural area with our own well so don't have to worry about paying for our water. However, we too, just water the newer trees and the gardens.

Capt. Paul, I love Waterworks Park. It's so beautiful there. We'll be arriving in the CC on Friday afternoon some time for my son's wedding the following day. Then it's up to the Keweenaw Mtn. Lodge to play golf. Home again on Monday, but heading back to the UP on the 28th.

Good Afternoon from hot and steamy central Indiana!

By Beverly, San Jose (Beverly) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 05:23 pm:

Hi Kevin and Kelly of Lodi.
Being that you live in the foothills of the Sierra's it must be a constant worry for you with all the hot weather and the dryness of the ground. I was walking up there not long ago and it just crackles under your feet. With all the dry lightning strikes it must keep you on edge. I think about you often.

Good deal Deb (or Mr. Deb). We'll also be cruising into the copper country on the 28th and staying until August 8. Lots of visiting old friends, photos for a book we're working on, and some geologic work too!!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 05:59 pm:

We're usually up there on the 8th cuz that's my birthday and I like spending it with my parents. But they make too big a deal out of it and have all these sweets around and want me to eat them. So now I try to be home for my birthday. LOL I'm sure you guys will have a good time. We don't do a lot of visiting, but do a lot of sightseeing. We never get tired of the sights. And then there's all those berries just waiting to be picked.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 06:31 pm:

Deb: The berries are early this year. My dad has already picked
over 30 quarts of blueberries (not counting what he found in the
wilds today). You should be able to find lots of berries.

Marsha: I will be in the Baraga/L'Anse are on the 21st and maybe,
just maybe I'll be able to swing by Aura. What time are the doings?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 06:48 pm:

Kosk, yeah Laurie says she's been out picking too but that this really isn't early. They're always later in the Copper Country, so I hope there'll still be plenty when we get there.

Have fun in Baraga/L'Anse!!!!

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 09:18 pm:

Thanks. Just a couple of more days til you're there, Deb and Mt.
Deb. Those berries should hold out just fine.

By Ann Johnson (Snowshoer) on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 - 03:55 pm:

Wondering how the wild blueberries are this year (7/23/08). Last year was fantastic on the AAA road, but it is a long way to drive.
