The beach in Eagle River 8 years ago. The speck in the water is a timber from an old shipwreck on the beach. This year the beach extends almost all the way to the wreck, with the water level down so far.

Good Morning. Tried to get pictures of lightning bugs last night but only got mosquito bites. Have a good weekend everyone.

Dennis Kemper sent in this photo of the Nina Tall Ship, docked in Hancock, at the Ramada Inn. He said they'll be having tours today and Saturday.
Here are the particulars about the tours, taken from the Daily Mining Gazette: While in port, the general public is invited to visit the ship for walk-aboard, self-guided tours. The hours of operation will be from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. every day the ship is in port. The charges are $5 for adults, $4 for Seniors and $3 for students 5-18. Children 4 and under are free. No reservations are necessary.

Uncle Chuck, If I could, you bet that's where I'd be. That's what I love about summers UP there. No matter which direction you drive on a hot day, you can be at Lake Superior in a matter of minutes. If it's cold in the lake, you lay out on the hot sand until you can't take the heat and go back in the water, time and time again. What a great way to live.

Hey Deb, you can jump into Lake Superior after the wedding of your son next week. There you go, have your bonfire on the beach that night at Eagle Harbor. Wouldn't that be neat if all of you jumped into Lake Superior? That would make memorable & funny moments of the wedding day to remember.

We are going to go and see the Nina on Sunday! It will be another upper peninsula experience to do.

My Grandson is on a Big Ship this Summer for a learning trip out of New Zealand and Tonga. I am so excited for him. What a wonderful opportunity for a 15 year old.
We are having very hot weather here in San Jose. I'm sure we are on high fire alert, as we need to start to conserve on our water. Everything is drying up.
