Good morning to you down there in Tennessee David. It's 43° here in Tuscola county this morning. We've had quite a few night time temps in the 40's recently. I love it.

Good Morning everyone, got back from the Copper Country last night. Had a nice trip but wish I was still there.

I'm wondering wether there's some kind of "header" for the guest galleries somewhere, explaining purpose and limitations, sort of like the explanation here and in the AUP for the Cam and the What'sUP ... ?

I have to say THANK YOU to Mikie and Precious for the lovely gift I received in the mail this weekend. It seems that Mikie is a talented woodworker. He made me a beautiful Cross pen with wood from the UP. It is positively beautiful to touch and to look at! I will treasure it forever. It is positively amazing how much joy continues to come back to you when you do something for someone else. :-D

Ya know, Mikie's that kind a guy.

I just read the front page of Pasty.net and saw that The Hut is hosting "Fifties Night" this Thursday; what a great idea Charlie. Too bad you couldn't gather up a few of the classic cars that roam the copper country and get a photo of them parked out front.

Speaking of Mikie and Precious, hopefully if the Dr. and I have enough time, we will get to meet the great Mikie (and Precious, too) in a few weeks while we are in Berkely visiting my aunt/uncle. Hey Mikie, that Wendy's invite still hold??

Well the Mrs. and I, and Rocco made it to L.B. last night after a great day on our boat in Munising crusing around Pictured Rocks. Rain today oh well, we got a few chores done. We'll be U.P. all week, trying to talk her into going to the parade in Gay on the 4th, what a hoot! What time is the parade in Gay, anyone know?

Well I guess I'm too early this AM! Good morning every one anyhow!

A Finnish-American internet friend advised me that contrary to popular opinion, the pasty originated in Italy. His explanation was that the word pasty is taken from the Italian word "pasticcio", which is defined as a meat pie. The Italian miners apparently brought the pasty to Cornwall when they went there to work in the mines.

Isn't that interesting? I never heard that before.
