The Keweenaw just recently experienced a heat wave, hitting 95° several days in a row. There of course are a number of different ways to cool down when the temperatures soar, but the most refreshing and natural way, is to take a dip in the nearest lake. Mark Dhooge and Al Covell, respectively, caught some folks out doing just that very thing. Mark's duo are enjoying a dip to cool off, at the same time the sun is taking a dip of its own. Kind of a double your pleasure moment! While Al's pair are showing their style as they perform in the "synchronized diving" competition at the Baraga Marina. I'd have to give them a 10 for that dive!

It has been hot enough to swim. I remember one summer, think 88 or 89 when it was hot and dry. Lake superior was so warm you didn't turn blue right away, we were able to splash for a long time after collecting Sauna rocks for my Aunt.

We took our boat out yesterday and were swimming off the boat. The water was nice and warm. When I was a kid, I could stay in Lake Superior for hours and it never seemed to bother me. That really looks like fun.

Sure would have liked to jump in there this past weekend after record highs in Colorado.

Good morning to all. I agree taking a plunge after working all day is the best. How have the flies been? It is that time of the year when those pesky beach flies start biting away.

I love the picture of the boys swimming!

And, I like the one of the boys diving off the dock. Part of that picture concerns me, though, since the dock is so close to the shore. Too many people are severely injured every year in diving accidents, when they dive into water that happens to be shallower than expected (broken necks, broken backs, etc, resulting in severe paralysis and even death). I would feel a lot better if the boys were doing cannonballs or something off the dock! :-)
