MusicTeacher, I know there were some casualties (ie heat exhaustion, minor heat stroke, etc, requiring medical attention & hospitals, in some cases) in the Memorial Day parades of some of the towns south of us last year. My son was in middle school last year, so he just wore a light shirt & that school's light-weight blazer. But, this year, he's in the high school marching band. The high school has heavy wool uniforms, with wool pants that come up to the chest, held up by suspenders, heavy wool coats, & topped by heavy double-sided satin capes, plus their heavy band hats. Ughh! I don't know how the kids from our high school did last year, because we did not know the older kids then. I'll have to try to find out from some of my son's older friends this week.
Anyway, we are hoping for a cool day for all marching in that parade all over Michigan! This band doesn't just straight march, either. They do a whole body dance/march step at a fast tempo, the entire route. It really is quite a work out for kids who might have gotten a little bit out of shape over the winter. :-)

Good Afternoon. I just found this website and think it is great. I have not been to the UP since my college days. Now I would like to show it to my family. Does anyone know of a nice cottage available for rent on an inland lake the week of July 14th? Thanks
