Tom Cook said he's been trying to get some photos of this family of foxes near Munising and finally succeeded in photographing the kits, but Mom wasn't anywhere around to get her in on the shots too. These little guys sure are cute and look pretty playful by the antics in the third shot. The last photo was taken on just about the same day, but further northwest of Tom's picture. Ashley Byykkonen was heading home from Copper Harbor with her Mom and Dad, when they noticed this sly little fox with a carry-out dinner. Ashley talked her Dad into turning around so she could snap a photo to share. It's hard to tell what he has in his mouth, but whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be a tasty meal for him (or her). With both Tom and Ashley spotting these foxes days and miles apart, it got me to thinking about springtime beginnings and new life!

Great Fox shots, the babies are adorable!... It would be great rock hunting on the shores of the big lake with the water levels so low. When I was home last week, I was amazed at how far out we had to walk to get to the water!

Aren't they cute?

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, May 17, 2007 - 06:57 am:

The fox babies are darling. They say that babies of all species are really cute so the parents will be drawn to them to take care of them!

It should be great rock hunting on the beaches now and this year because so much more beach is exposed, uncovering rocks that haven't been seen in a very long time because of the low water levels. :-)

Next door to us is an old farmstead that no one lives at anymore except for a family of fox. The kits are so much fun to watch from our deck. I have heard if they feel they maybe in harms way, they give off a scent simular to a skunk.

How adorable! My mom just had a family living under her deck in Clinton Township MI. They mostly stayed in their den during the day, but when early evening came, they would come out and play. She has a wood type setting just behind her and every morning would see dead rabbits or squirrels outside, mom no doubt teaching her young how to hunt. My mom is glad they're gone now - the kits used to come up on the deck right to the doorwall, probably trying to figure out how to get in and play with the cat! But she did enjoy watching them play in the evening.

They are cute, my son is always looking for foxes in the field when he comes to work with me.

What great action pictures. Will add to my file of fox references. Next to seahorses and dragonflies, one of my favorite critters. Thanks to both for the neat photos.
