Throughout the Copper Country, visible remnants of the mining era have various uses. The Pasty Cam has observed these present-day structures and, in many cases, explored their history:

With the smokestack as a point of reference, it appears that the current path of US-41 outside of Mohawk passes directly through the footprint of the former shaft house. Years after it first appeared as the picture of the day, the Pasty Cam returned when the smokestack itself came down.

Kraig Mahrley has assembled an excellent mini-documentary of this landmark on the Superior Woodworks website.

Good morning!

At the website below, you can learn a lot about the history the mining era (pictures of ruins, explanations of how operations worked, etc.) and many great pictures. Something new is added every few days.

Sunrise,
I think the early bird icon is still sleeping.

Great Superior Woodworks website. Wow, to see how large that spoil pile was then, verses what we see today, interesting.

I just looked at our updated weather forecast for this week. After we get past our rain today & tonight, it looks clear through the weekend! Now, if it's not wishing for too much, I hope it's not too windy. I don't ask for much, do I? I am really excited to see such a nice weather forecast for our area!

The bridge is up to it's "summer" level.
