The process known as sublimation was quite evident eight years ago on Cliff Drive, between Ahmeek and Phoenix. That's when frozen water skips the liquid stage to become vapor, a hazy fog in the valley's of the U.P. hills. Jonathan captured the magic on his new Kodak for the shot of the day in '99.

What a difference in April 9th pictures! Hope your current snow sublimates nicely and fast for you. Everyone all over the country is sure going to appreciate spring this year!

Good Morning, hope you all had a great Easter. Kids did their Easter egg hunt at grandmas in the snow and came inside soaked. Yet Christmas they were playing ball outside and were dry, I don't get it.

My son, who traveling home from Minneapolis says that our home town of Painesdale made CNN news with a total snowfall of 64" since April 3. If I didn't see it, I wouldn't believe it.

Lorelei, You are too funny! Nothing to measure this AM :) The total snowfall for the storm we just had (Wed-Sun) was 59 inches! Don't know where CNN got the 64 inches from. The bright side: we are only 13 inches from hitting the 300 inch mark. Will we make it?

Our local radio also stated 64" on the air this morning. That is so odd. I just assumed they got the news from you.

I hope we don't make the record. I have seen enough!!

Gee, since I am the one sending the totals to NWS, maybe I need to recheck my numbers. We might be closer to the 300 mark than I think.
Last year I thnk we came within 5 inches of hitting it.

You may get closer than you think, they're predicting 3 to 5 inches here in MN tomorrow. If it takes the usual NE track, you should make the 300. Lucky you!!
