This is Bud the pygmy goat, who belongs to Ashley Byykkonen and from what I understand, does not like to walk in the snow. Kind of a funny phobia to have if you live here in the Copper Country, but fortunately for Bud, Ashley's family has a nice deck for him to strut his stuff on. The second shot was taken a bit earlier when there was still a good mound of snow left in the backyard, but as you can see, Bud found his way around without getting his little hooves covered in snow!

He is soooooooo cute. I had a weimaraner once who had eyes like that. He didn't like the snow much either.

That is a cute one, how big is a pygmy goat? Is their hair as long as larger goats and that's what makes it look so fuzzy or is that a seasonal coat? I've a photo of one around here somewhere on a kitchen chair, should have taken some of the hoof prints on our car which was their favorite lookout point.

Theresa, did your dog have eyes with square pupils or just the yellow and black coloring?

His eyes were yellow and black, but he did have round pupils. People would comment his eyes looked like a goat. And he was colored like a deer and his tail was cropped too so some people would say he looked like one when his head was down like grazing. HeeHee

The goat is cute. I must admit, I laughed when I first saw the goat in the deck, as a number of funny thoughts popped into my head. First, I was thinking he was a 'scape goat. Then, I remembered a song that we sang when I was very young, "Bill Groggin's Goat"; that was about a goat that ate about everything you can imagine, from freshly washed clothes hanging outside on a clothesline, to tin cans, you name it--that poor old goat got into sooo much trouble. He would have eaten the railing on that deck, for instance.

Poor little goat who doesn't like the snow--he lives in the wrong part of the country!

Theresa, the goat's eyes do look like those of several weimaraners that I have seen over the years.

My boss' goats had three babies this last week. The latest is black with silver ears. Really cute.

HAS ANYONE SEEN THE GOATS ON THE GRASSY ROOF OF THE SWEDISH RESTAURANT IN DOOR COUNTY? THAT'S COOL TOO.

That darling little goat isn't the only one glad to see the snow disappearing. As much as I love the look of fresh snow in the winter, we all are reveling in the glorious spring weather! And especially this weekend as I ordered the 75 degrees we are getting. My friends Deb and Mr. Deb are due here in NW Illinois this afternoon and I'm soooooo excited to meet these wonderful friends whom I've never met in person! Wish all the pasty friends I've made these last three years were coming. Wouldn't that be grand?!

What a cutie.....wonder if they are hard to take care of...????

Where is the Swedish restaurant in Door County....I am headed that way in May and I am 1/2 Swedish....kinda like to check it out ....Please fill me in....Thanks

jeffry: we were there last summer with the grandkids and had to pass by there several times during the week just so they could see the goats.

His coat is just a seasonal coat, it will get less thick in the summer and he will also not be soooo fat in the summer. He is really easy to take care of and the sweetest, funniest pet you can imagine, although he is a baby and he does eat anything and everything. Haha!

Pygmy goats are much smaller than regular goats. Females are usually 35 - 50 lbs. and males are about 40 to 60 lbs. They were first imported from Africa in the 1950's.

I highly recommend the Swedish pancakes at Al Johnson's. Be careful that the goats don't fall on you.
