When you're touring the Keweenaw, there's a natural pull to the rocky shores of Lake Superior. No matter the time of year, young and old alike enjoy climbing and exploring these rocks. Tom Kargela sent us these photos, but was quick to add that his wife, Molly was the photographer. This photo of the trio sitting on the rocks could have been taken in the summer months, except for that stubborn patch of snow still hanging on below their feet. Now Molly's second shot really looks like summertime fun at the beach, minus the swimsuit of course! What is it about the mixture of water and sand that draws children to it like a magnet?

Cool! Sand pies.

She looks as if she's really having fun!

This UP lovely seems to be discovering what we all discovered, even if it was years ago; that the lake is alive. One can tell by watching the sand moving under the wave water. Just one of the marvels she will discover in the next few years. Nice photo.

Looks like a fun day out.

One thing about that draw is that given the right circumstances it makes me a 34-year-old child.

Just noticed that the bridge is up to its summertime level. When did it move?

Fun pictures today! Those rocks in the first picture look very similar to the rocks in the Piers Gorge (Norway, MI) area. Very cool!

Haven't posted here in a while but wanted to let ya'll know that Brock and I tied the knot on April 4th in Mexico. It was a gorgeous ceremony! I will posted the album when the site is back up and running.

Have a great day all!

Congrats, Debra!

As one of the subjects of the pictures (the mom sitting on the rocks) and mother of the girl playing in the sand, I would just like to point out that these photos were taken March 24th. Remember how warm it was that day? I think it got to at least 60 at the airport. We had such a beautiful day, and I couldn't believe how wet and sandy the kids got at Great Sand Bay. We took a drive up to Copper Harbor and stopped along the way, whenever we felt like it.

Debra,
Best wishes to you and Brock. I can't wait to see the wedding pictures. I love weddings and I also love Mexico. Bet it was awesome.

Maybe the little girl was looking for clams or sand crabs.
