Eight years ago, there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground, as demonstrated by this shot of the Portage (near Oskar Bay).

By Dennis Harju (Upsuomi) on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 - 01:23 pm:

Good Afternoon, It's springtime in Wyoming, we are in the middle of a winter storm. 12 to 18 inch's of snow expected. I have the month of April scheduled as vacation so as soon as the snow melts (or blows to Nebraska) I will be making a trip home. A pasty at the Hut is near the top of my list of things to do. I feel like a child at Christmas.

It's a beautiful day here in Toronto too. Will have to get out and
clean up the garden and yard this weekend.

I know what you mean Upsuomi, I get all goofy when I think of
going UP any time of year.

Davw H,do you remember in Kindegarten Mrs St John used to color the pussywillows with colored chalk? Remember when the smelt ran down by the Dollar Bay bridge? We all had a lot of fun. The smelts were plentiful

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 - 11:24 pm:

No Fran Mrs. St John was ahead of my time, however I recall my Mother talking of her saying she (Mom) scrubed floors for her.I would like to know about the St John family, did they also live in the Old MacDonald house? I had Mrs.Hiltunen in Kindegarden and 1st.grade,Elaine MacDonald maybe 6.th.grade.

I do remember smelting and burning old tires. The picture above sorta made me think about that stuff, but that's not Jermalls (sp)farm.I always brought pussywillows home when they came out from Stones creek,I only lived a stones throw from there.
