Today's shot from the Pasty Cam archive presents the dining hall at the Gitchee Gumee camp in Eagle River. The occasion was a civil war discussion by Mel Jones on a civil war book he edited -- memoirs from his great grandfather.

Almost! Have a great spring day!

By kathie Murto (Murtomania) on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - 08:53 am:

Another beautiful day here in Rochester Hills. Yesterday it was 84 degrees and today bright and sunny. I still have my windows open from yesterday and the weather is excellent!!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - 09:12 am:

Good Morning! We had an awesome day here, weather-wise yesterday, sunny with a high of 75! That is about my favorite temperature--not too hot & not too cold--just right, like Goldilocks would like--perfect! And, they took the rain out of our forecast for today, with a predicted high of 65. Not bad for spring break.

It's too bad that my two younger sons are both sick with some wicked virus that is a lot worse than a cold, with fever & you name it, that the doctor says to expect to last two full weeks. At least we can see the sunny day through the windows, and our grass will start perking up and growing!

I've had some creepin' crud for the last two weeks myself. Started with a sore throat, then a head cold, then down in the chest and now back in the head with sneezing and watery eyes. I've had very little sleep for the last week with all the coughing at night. Today seems a little better. I hope I'm past the worst. Whew!

What a contrast; kids with sunglasses and summer food in school and kids in long pants and snow at summer camp. Oh My!

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - 09:53 am:

We had the plaque go through our office also. One of the nasty colds turned into Bronchitis, she is fine now. I lucked out and just felt wore out for a few days with sniffles and a cough. There were 2 cases of Strep throat in my sons classroom (glad that didn't come home).

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - 10:25 am:

Cindy try putting Vicks Vapor Rub on your feet and wear socks over the Vicks when you go to bed. Stops the coughing.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - 01:11 pm:

I will try that. I put Vicks on my chest and that didn't do a bit of good. I'm willing to try anything. Thanx!!

Have we heard any news from Thumbgardener about her husband? I hope all is well and her husband is recovering from the kidney transplant. My prayers go out to them.

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - 03:41 pm:

Cindy, I am at the hospital now, waiting for him to be discharged. I just came down to use the computer when he fell asleep. He is doing better, but we still don't know if the kidney will work for him. The last ultra sound didn't look as good as the others, but they are not giving up on it yet. In the meantime he is back on peritoneal dialysis (it is done at home).
If this doesn't work he is still on a waiting list if he decides he would like to try this again.
Thank you so much for the prayers.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - 03:56 pm:

Wow--a cold front clearly came through mid-Michigan this afternoon! The temp dropped 13 degrees and it is now cloudy & foggy. I guess I missed that part of the weatherforecast for today.

Thumbgardner, I am glad that your husband gets to come home today! My prayers are with you all that the kidney will begin to work soon, and that both he & your daughter will have speedy and full recoveries!

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - 04:51 pm:

I hope everyone will say a prayer for Thumbgardener and her family tonight right after we all thank God for another day for all of us.

JH...I too send you my very best and hopeful wishes for your husband's successful recovery! The dialysis unit is one of my assigned areas of the hospital I work for. God Bless!
