Schoolcraft Township developed this area into a great little day-use park just a few years ago. It's complete with picnic tables, grills, restrooms, water and has paved walkways to the tables so they're handicapped accessible. Add all that together with being on the shores of Lake Superior and you've found yourself a nice place to head to in the months to come. Carl Kiilunen took a drive heading east out of Lake Linden on the Bootjack Road, headed up the Rice Lake Road and out to Big Traverse to snap this shot of the park as it waits for the snow to melt and the picnickers to begin!

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Whether you're Irish or not, it's still fun to take part in the "Wearing of the Green!!

Have a great St. Patricks Day. I haven't saw a mink in the wild in a long time. I used to trap them when I was in country school.

Happy St. Patty's Day!
Looks like the bridge cam is stuck again...opps...
Green river water in Chicago, Green snow in the U.P.?
Have a great day everyone!

We did some swimming out there last year. One day the water was so warm that we were in there for about an hour and a half, and two days later you couldn't stick your big toe in there. That's Lake Superior for you. My son and his fiance' are getting married there this summer.

Deb, Doesn't look like you want to swim today either. Great picture, I shall look in the summer.

Wow! Webbtroll, you must be old to remember that!;0)

I'm with webbtroll on that! And I remember many many other things in the Keweenaw days gone by!

Russell, I was kidding Webbtroll....He's my Dad! He know's I love him!! ;0)

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, March 17, 2007 - 05:22 pm:

Thank you for letting us in on that part, Pweed. I had been thinking that wasn't a very nice thing to say to Webbtroll! Some people are just more experienced than others. :-)

Happy St Patrick's Day, everyone! I wish we could paint our lawn green. The snow just melted off of it the last couple of days. The grass is brownish & matted down, after the cold winter & the snow load. Spring is just around the corner, thankfully!

By Therese (Therese) on Saturday, March 17, 2007 - 06:27 pm:

A happy St. Pat's out there to all us Irish or wanna-bes. I have a touch of influenza in spite of vaccinations, so the only green I am wearing is around the gills, so to speak; but I have a wee pot o' shamrocks to remind me of spring, and some glorious sunshine out there on the snow to let me know the seasons are changin' even if the weather won't be for a few more weeks.

Ah, but there were two purple crocus in bloom last week in the warmth of the furnace vent pipe. It may be a bit of cheating but who cares in March? If pouring warm water on the ground would bring spring the quicker, I would empty my water heater many times over and not count the cost!

Hi Russell and Marianne! She's my oldest, we've been through a lot together. I am "mature" and proud of it. Born in 32 (me not her!). Keep smiling, life is to short as it is. Daniel Boone.

Thanks Dad!!

Why Paulwebbtroll, you're still a spring chicken! :-)

By Russell E. Emmons (Russemmons) on Saturday, March 17, 2007 - 10:04 pm:

Hey Pweed & webbtroll, no problem on this end! :) Just thought I would put in a plug for us old folks! (1938 here) Also a plug for my pride of growing up in the Copper Country long ago! (1940s)

RCW, FraninGa, my brother & I, and a few others out here went to the same school around the same time and we all hung around Dollar Bay and Woodside eh! (Well I also went to Hancock & Pewabic schools too for a short time!)

A day late! Therese, yes those early bird flowers are started here also. On the east side of the house by the steps we have daffidils(sp) about 3-4" tall and in the flower bed around the flagpoles we have pansys blossoming for 4 or 5 days now! Some years those pansys have blossomed in February!
