Serene and peaceful came to mind when I spotted this shot. Roger Kangas captured the snow covered scene and titled it "still in winter's hold". That's a good description for the U.P. right now, since we're definitely still experiencing winter and with a dandy blast of it a few days back. But spring isn't actually all that far off anymore and Roger's photo illustrates that hope, with signs of the river beginning to peek it's way out of the white blanket of snow.

Serene is the word I'd use also, Mary.

Nice place to find in the winter.

So rare to see a winter scene such as this that hasn't been marred by a snowmobile track!!

Any idea what river this is?? Looks like the Tobacco on the Gay/Lake Linden Rd. to me.....

Very Pretty, Pauls right its rare not to see tracks.

Nice pic! I bet all the U.P business that rely on snowmobilers to help business are over joyed with all the new snow that finally came!

Could be the Trap Rock at the township park road.

It is gorgeous, a true winter wonderland! The snow with no tracks is truly beautiful! I would rather see it at Christmas time than in March, though.

We went to a band concert yesterday that had spring as its theme, complete with "Red, Red Robin Goes a Bob-Bob-Bobbing Along" & "Take Me Out to the Ball Game". And, we Spring Forward to Daylight Savings Time on Saturday night. I guess I'm getting spring fever.

It's not helping that our air temps are supposed to go back below zero tonight, or that we are supposed to get 3 to 5 inches of snow tomorrow night here in mid-Michigan. I know, my oldest son who is at Mich Tech probably has the violin out now for us. :-) Cherokeeyooper, I wish we had to mow the lawn at the beginning of March.
