This house showed up on the Pasty Cam eight years ago in response to a note from a viewer, wondering if his old homestead was still standing. His dad worked for Calumet and Hecla which, of course, dominated the area in the early 1900s. You'll find many old photos of C&H on this page and others in Copper Country Reflections. Here's a sample: By Deb S. Morning from Mishawaka, IN. We to are waiting for, who knows what. Ice first then snow. Sounds like fun. By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 07:40 am:
It's cold here in Toronto, but no new snow is on the ground--just By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 10:22 am: Good Morning, hoping its not so windy so we can get outside for a while. Getting cabin fever pretty bad. Spring will be here soon. By Theresa R Brunk (Trb0013) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 11:07 am: Good Morning all. I live in Tampa Florida now, but I was raised in the Soo and would travel to Copper Harbor yearly and just drink in the whole Keweenah. I truely miss it. I have to make my own pasty's, but they are not the same as eating them in my truck from the Calumet Bakery. By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 11:16 am:
I hope you all don't get very much ice, Charlotte! I see that you all are on the projected ice then snow of the storm. By k j (Kathiscc) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 11:24 am: It's about 32 degrees here in sunny Marengo, IL. We are under a blizzard warning until Sunday at noon.(Although I have heard it's supposed to snow through Monday) Have heard up to 9-12" Got food in yesterday, everything's all set, don't have to go anywhere, let the snow begin! By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 11:29 am: It's really drippy here. We were supposed to be south enough to not get this--oh well, so much for directions. I like the way this picture has what is what and when and if it had a demise. Makes looking at a today picture more special. By Happy to be in the U.P. (Lahelo) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 12:39 pm: Doings today at Copper Peak, Copper Peak Hill Climb with snowmobiles! It is awesome to see them snowmobiles climb and sometimes they come tumbling town the Peak. They had to cancel the last 2 years because of the weather. Mother Nature is at her best this winter. IF you get a chance get over and see it! By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 01:11 pm:
The wind is howling, something's a-brewin'! This weather reminds me of a little story about my son Johnny; By Danbury (Danbury) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 04:25 pm:
I could be wrong, but somehow I thought 100K hits on PastyCam were a matter of hours, maybe days - not weeks. By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 05:26 pm:
Boy, oh, boy, oh, boy, did I pick the wrong night to cook hamburgers on the grill! It started out as a big snow white-out, now it's raining! Looks like we're gonna get the "mixed mess"! By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Saturday, February 24, 2007 - 05:32 pm:
:-) Joanie, maybe it's time for a slight change of plans, like to broiled (inside) hamburgers, or cooked on the stovetop? By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Sunday, February 25, 2007 - 06:34 am: I agree that if we all chip in even a very small amount, it can make a huge difference. I know that a person cannot respond to every severe need one hears of. But then, I thought of this site and the great pleasure it provides EVERY DAY at no cost to us. Sending a little is one way to thank Mary and all who provide this site. |
