As we mention on the main Pasty Cam page, Keweenaw's Sheriff Ron Lahti and his toy drive are looking for you if one of the following applies:

1) You have toys or cash to donate for families who need some extra help at this time of year, ...or if -
2) Your family (in the Keweenaw... or someone you know) could use such help

Phone (906)337-0528, email ksheriff@pasty.net or donate online. If you use the secure donation form, please indicate "toys for kids" in the description.

Sheriff Ron

Good morning you'll from Rockport, Texas. It's 5:45 here. Way too early for a retired soul! They're expecting near freezing which is very unusual in these parts. (whisper) I sorta miss that snow in the UP but not that cold. This is cold enough for me. :)

Ms Katie Winter Texan: it's 27° here in the panhandle. Brrrr. The crash looks devastating. The ol' boy in the uniform looks like he's having fun with the toys though.

I posted a message last evening wondering about the telephone number to call to check the time here in the Keweenaw. Thanks to all those who responded (FRN - unfortunately I don't have XP). I'm still wondering if there's a local number that replaced the old 337-1212, since sometimes the computer isn't running when I need to know the correct time. Thanks! :-)

Wow! What a story in 'blast from the past'! Worth everyone's time to read.

Where are the "must see" Christmas light displays in the Keweenaw Peninsula? We'll be in the area over the holidays.

We got one of those atomic clocks that receive the signal from the National Atomic Clock in Ft. Collins, Colorado. They can be set to whatever time zone you're in and also display day, date, and year. It's one of the best things we ever bought. Now when there's a power failure or Daylight saving time begins or ends it's easy to get all the clocks set right.

I agree with you maja, the 'Blast from the Past' postings have left me nothing less than intrigued.
I'm just trying to pick a date for my wedding this coming September. I think either the 10th or the 17th. Oh Happy Day!
Cold and sunny in Muskegon, MI today! : )

Hilary or anyone who is good at Finnish translation! I have a bread boardbreadboard.jpg, but I do not know what it says.
My daughter, Chelsea, says it must mean: "give us this day our daily bread"... (she did a little research with our finnish to english dictionaries.) Is she correct?
Thanks!

By Julie, Clinton Twp MI on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 04:55 pm:

Lori,
I just spoke with my mom, your daughter is correct. The sentence is part of the Lord's Prayer... Although in Finn it reads a little differently. The 1st part is Give to me. The second is Now Day. Meiden is For Us. (At least those are the notes that I took)

Got my 2005 Calendars. Ordered one for me and one for my Dad. Great job!!!

Shelly, haven't seen you here in ages! Where have you been? I've been wondering about you.

By Lori... on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - 05:58 pm:

Thank you, Julie. We knew leipamme was in reference to bread, so we kind of put 2 and 2 together. But I appreciate the phone call to your Mom. :)
