Mary Drew at Pasty Central on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 - 07:24 am:

Just a couple weeks ago we were driving along US 41, near the spot referred to as 'The Red Rocks', between L'Anse and Baraga, when I had to do a double take. Yes siree, it was definitely a small flock of ducks floating in the Bay! Now I thought most ducks were long gone to the warmer climates of the country by this time of year, but those few hadn't taken off yet. When I spotted this shot in Donn de Yampert's gallery, it reminded me of the ones I had seen, and then got me to wondering if they had headed south yet. If not, I sure hope they've got plenty of down to insulate them from those frigid waters!

ducks look so uncomfortable when they fly.

By Donald on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 - 08:00 am:

What a welcome change from nothing but Canadian geese all over the playgrounds, lawns, and golf courses in the cities!

We have about two dozen Blue jays that we wish would fly south, to make way for the Chickadees and nut-hatches.

Great picture!

By Nancy , VA on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 - 09:38 am:

Loverly picture. Where is there open water? I was laughing this morning that the geese ( probably some of your northern geese) were skating on the frozen ponds here in Blacksburg VA. It's very cold but NO snow. Would you be so kind as to send us some so the kids can use the new snowboards that Santa brought? Good day to all.
:)

Great pic. The water and snow background really make those 'flappers' stand out. Norman Rockwell would be impressed.

can you tell me where the bridge cam is located & what is down on the right lower of the picture. Is that a Motel? What a super web site you have. I travled the U.P. for 25 years and spent a lot of time in Houghton & it sure brings back a lot of good times.

Thanks for a super site

You know, it really doesn't take much to capture these photos. Just a little...
- patience
- timing
- steady hands
- keen eye
- proper framing
- more patience
- anticipation
- perserverence
- dedication
- practice
and a total mastery of the camera itself.
That's all.

Geez, you make it sound hard or somethin'!
