Second snow due here today. A little unusual for the panhandle. How's the UP?

Charlie mentions about snowless condition in the Keweenaw (and a shot of what it's like) in today's Cam Notes

Snow lovers - don't lose hope. Opening day of deer season for the record setting '78-'79 was warm and green. It starting snowing around the 20th and didn't stop for a couple of months. I drove a '69 Chevelle out to deer camp that year and that car almost spent the winter there!

Is it just me? Or is this site " Best viewed using Internet Explorer". I use Firefox and this site is slow loading, especially the graphics.

By ls on Saturday, November 13, 2004 - 04:33 pm:

I've been using Firefox and have not had any problems with it being slow to load.

Firefox 1.0 works fine for me ..

By Rose on Saturday, November 13, 2004 - 06:08 pm:

Thanks for the advice on FireFox. I will tweak my settings.

Rose: if you have Norton or another anti-virus service, run it. Slow connections can be the first indication that you have a virus or viruses. You may not even know you have them. A while ago, I ran my service just because it's a good idea. It found and fixed ELEVEN viruses. Connections speeded up. All the time I have had this computer, the service never found a virus, so I was quite taken aback when it found these eleven.

If you haven't used Firefox, this fussy Finn finds Firefox fast and far Superior to Internet Explorer. Mozilla.com, I think. My wife downloaded it and I love it!

By maijaMI on Saturday, November 13, 2004 - 09:09 pm:

Rose: hope you see this. Since I had been advising you, I ran my anti-virus scan. It did find and fix one virus. I had been having no trouble with my computer or speed of connections!

Firefox is great for use with PastyCam 'cuz you can right click on any photo, graphic or other image and zoom in for a closer view! Most of the pix on PastyCam will zoom to full screen size with very little distortion!

By Rose on Sunday, November 14, 2004 - 05:11 am:

Your advice was so right. I knew I could count on the smart folks on pastycam.I ran all the A/V software I have and some spyware programs and found 12 items of spyware running in the background. They had been gradually slowing the system down. Firefox is now running at full speed! What a pleasure it is to surf this way instead of with the dinosaur of IE.

Al Gore's invention of the Internet in its singular form has grown. Like the charming picture above of not one stump, but many stumps’s the Internet became a plural unto itself. Example….
"I hear there's rumors on the Internets that we're going to have a draft." —George W. Bush, second presidential debate, St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 8, 2004. As quoted by a presidential master of the English language. When he says draft do you think he means beer?
