This little guy has made several appearances on these pages in the past, mowing the lawn and shoveling snow. Mom and Dad (Patricia and Michael Forgrave), sure seem to keep Stephan busy with a variety of U.P. activities. He looks pretty small, standing on the edge of Lake Superior's vastness in the top photo. I think that's a rock in his hand in the second shot, and he looks like he's winding up to give it a good toss back into the drink. Either that or he could be waving goodbye to the warm autumn weather we've been having, with the chill back in the air...

John Dee is predicting snow later today!

Good picture! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

By displaced yooper on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 07:10 am:

Rock throwing really takes one back to childhood. Remembering skipping stones and how nice it was to be close to the big lake.

By joe , troll on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 07:18 am:

By Margaret, Amarillo TX on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 07:18 am:

Looks a little chilly; but, I bet he's still having fun.

By Elizabeth Mi on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 07:19 am:

It's only 28 this a.m. Portage Lake looks calm and cold. Deer hunting must be boring with no tracks to follow! Hope the snow stays away until Christmas:)

By Frances S. Georgia on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 07:27 am:

Little did I know when I was that age, throwing rocks that I was making memories. I know this little guy will someday look back on this as a good memory.
Happy Thanksgiving to you'll

By Wade,MI on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 07:51 am:

Hey Elizabeth MI
They're predicting 2-4 inches down here in troll-land today. I'll be driving through it to get to Mom's house: over the [Huron] river, but not through any woods. Happy Thanksgiving, one day early, to all.

By cminetti Macomb MI on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 08:23 am:

Happy Thanksgiving to all... I remember in my childhood in Lake Linden Thanksgiving meant everone gathered at Grandma Bea's for a huge feast. We would eat in shifts beacause of all the family with lots of kids. My thoughts are with "Grandma Bea" this Thanksgiving.

By yooper at college, ND on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 08:25 am:

By maijaMI on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 09:19 am:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I am forever grateful for Pasty Cam.

By Georgie, MO on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 09:32 am:

Looks like fun in spite of the cold. It's 33 right now in Columbia,Mo,with some light snow. Beats all the fog we had in Amarillo this past weekend! I like to see where I'm going! Glad to be home, but we had a great time. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

By Liz, Idaho on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 09:54 am:

The snow flakes are filtering through today while campus is very quiet. Tossing and skipping stones never leaves one's muscle memory...lately only getting 3 skips and a lot of thunks...maybe I need to start over and relearn with this little guy! Happy Gobble Day!

By Karl from Cadillac on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 11:50 am:

I remember doing that when I was little, my Dad and my 2 brothers and my sister, that was a lot of fun...as a matter of fact this fall I did it again on the beach next to Eagle River! I think I did better when I was "younger"! Still fun though! I plan on bringing my Grand Kids up there next fall for color tour and teaching them how to "skip a stone", like I tought my son and daughter. Happy Thanksgiving to all and remember to pray for all our service men and women!

By Jim In Breckenridge MI. on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 01:13 pm:

Just started to get the small flakes in the air. Forcast 1-2 inches today and another 2-4 for tonight. It wont be long and I will be on the Polaris.

By Connie, Ft. Belvoir VA on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 01:51 pm:

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, especially all of our troops that are deployed around the world. We have had a misty drizzle for about 4 days now, wind is picking up and temps are dropping. Wish it would snow instead.

By Dan and Holly, Boise on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 02:40 pm:

Liz in Idaho? Where in Idaho are you?

By The Infrequent Poster on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 03:25 pm:

I can also remember the shore like that. Cool Picture.
Snowing here in east central Missouri, with accumulations of anywhere from an inch to 6 ins.
We have about 4 to 5 here where I live. Had fun outside it was like being back in the U.P. plowing snow.

By Troll, MI on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 05:07 pm:

Ha,ha! Right now the Lower Peninsula has snow and the U.P don't! Were supposed to get at least 5 inches. Have fun in the cold w/ no snow! We have snow and we love it yoopers!

on the turkey and trimmings...and the warmth of

be forgotton..at least until Monday when everyone

By kosk in Toronto on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 - 08:55 pm:

Happy Thanksgiving!

No snow on the ground in Toronto yet, just a
few flurries.

It's been years since I celebrated American
Thanksgiving in Michigan. I'm lucky to have
ex-pat friends to celebrate with tomorrow.
About twenty of us have been holding a
potluck Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday
evening for the past couple of decades.
