The water tower on the hill. You see many different shapes and sizes of these contraptions dotting the countryside wherever you travel. This one sits atop Fourth Street in Lake Linden, with a view towards Bootjack and the countryside. Carl Kiilunen took a stroll around the town to bring us a spectrum of colors in a fall slideshow! I can only imagine what the view would be if you climbed that ladder on the side of the tower. Maybe we can talk Carl into giving it a try for us! I'm just kidding, it's probably illegal to climb up there without permission anyway.
Such a pretty photo Mary. You do a great job selecting the photo's as I know you "guys" are diluged with many. Kinda' glad we made our trip 2 weekends ago as the winds were bad enough then while camping at the Porkies. That Sunday night we rocked more than the kids at a rock concert. For sure this weekend the camper would be in Superior instead of along side it. Stay warm & dry all!

Great pictures! Love the fall colors, bet they will be a thing of the past before the weekend is up if the winds are as high as the weatherman said! It's rainy and windy here in Cadillac and leaves are falling fast. How big are the waves on the Big Lake today? Weatherman down here said they will reach 25 feet! I would drive to White Fish Bay to see that! I love to watch the big brakers on the Big Lake!

Morning....it doesn't seem all that windy here in Traverse City....but I have a feeling a good many leaves will hit the ground(hopefully the neighbors ground) today.

Thanks for the great picture. Right behind the water tower are the "tracks," where years of fun took place. I remember growing up with friends, and we would dare each other to climb the water tower and not one of us took the dare.

Mike - in Redford, The difference between catsup and ketchup? Catsup is a word derived from catsupula meaning feline dining or cat's meal as in "my cat supped on a tasty mouse." Ketchup, on the other hand is a rather complicated southern word meaning "hey, hurry up, we are waiting on you so ketchup, would ya?"
Hope this helps ;>)
Mr. Kiilunen, great picture, thanks for taking the time to share with us the GORGEOUS scenery. Oh and Mr. Webster says the meaning of gorgeous is "dazzlingly attractive." An apt description of this weeks pictures.

Can anyone out there tell me how I can listen to the Michigan Tech football game from the Tech site on my computer? I live in Gwinn but can't get anything on the radio here. Tech is 6-0 & 13th in the standings in the nation. Dan Mettlach (Tech's quarterback & formerly from Gwinn)is my best friend's son & my adopted nephew. I'd love to listen to the game. Would appreciate it.

Cheryl, Go to MTU.edu then click on Athletics then go to the link for Football and you should be at the page to click on the audio webcast. I'll be listening too. See you at the Bash at the Bighouse on November 6. Go Huskies!

Well, here's Iroquois Street in Laurium as of 5 minutes ago, hopefully it will disappear soon and we'll have a few more good days before the big onslaught from Heikki Luntta.

The end of the 1st quarter, Huskies are winning 21-0. Field is snow covered & very slippery. But the Huskies are used to playing in this weather.Good crowd(diehards& YOOPERS)! Thirteen fans from Northland.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH... I wish I was UP NORTH!!! I missed the birthday cake yesterday and am missing the snow today. I am JEALOUS!!! I would love to feel the snow, run thru the slush, and breathe in that clean crisp Copper Country air! Thank you for the snowy pictures...
By Candy, CA on Saturday, October 16, 2004 - 02:48 pm:
Greetings from East Houghton!! I ran through the slush---ended up with wet feet, wet hair and a wet jacket---that was in a quick dash into the mall!!!!!! I would rather be dry!!! and warm!!!! Thank goodness I am inside looking out right now.....Tech is winning 34 to 7 at half-time, it is snowing and blowing up at the field. My better half came home from the game cold and soaking wet!!! (He was dressed for the weather--but the wind was brutal!!!)
By Lorelei on Saturday, October 16, 2004 - 03:04 pm:
At the end of the Tech football game, Tech won 54-7. Huskies are now 7-0. Weather was brutal, but we knew it was coming sooner than later. Tech goes to Ferris next week. How is Lake Superior doing? Rolling? Hope the boats are off of it or in safe harbor.

Well, there was really no doubt about it. I'm mounting my Blizzaks for the trip UP Tuesday (like so many on this website, I can hardly wait) to stay with the Hoatson's.... I mean the Hurlburts.... I mean the Laurium Manor Inn for a couple of days of sightseeing and then work the Lake Superior Pro Rally (POR) Friday and Saturday. I have been paying a lot of attention lately, to all the stories about where people have been vacationing in the U. P. recently, and what they saw and did. I really appreciate the information. Unfortunately, I will only have two days to take it in. I guess I'll have to come back again. (Try and keep me away!)
BTW, I don't suppose anyone knows if there will be a lutfisk dinner anywhere, possibly at a Lutheran church. I know it wouldn't replace pasties (that goes without saying so why did I say it?) but every year as the holidays approach, I get a craving for the lutfisk of my childhood. Thankfully, you don't have to put up with the smell these days.
Oh, those newly fallen snow photos are neat. Glad to live where I live for the time being. Although I did "vacation" there in Feb of 2003, snowed like mad every day. Got to love it. This little bit of snow would bring out all the snow mobilers(sp?) here in IA. They come out at the first sign of a flake.... #3, who says someone didn't meet me? How would you know, you were busy kissing people;-)
