Eight years ago, the Pasty Cam caught Still Waters resident Ray St. Peter demonstrating his winter walking technique. In today's Pasty Cam, Mary Drew caught a cross country skiier, too (at Swedetown).

Despite the low snowfall in December, the trails at Swedetown and Michigan Tech are still operating, with good solid bases -- in fact, next week, the Michigan Tech Nordic center will host the US national championships in the sport.although not mid-season conditions. You can find out about the latest cross country ski conditions at the Keweenaw Trails web site.

First PostGood morning from San Jose!

By lz (Llamamama) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 06:49 am:

Looks like no snow for cross country here in SW Michigan this year! May have to head north!

By Roger Somero (Rsomero) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 07:33 am:

This three hour time difference can be sweet-I haven't gone to bed yet, so it is still Thursday night for me. I know it may seem unfair, but that bird is fun to catch once in awhile!

Happy New Year from San Jose and good night.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 07:33 am:

No snow here in MN. either. We had rain again.

Morning!

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 07:44 am:

Happy new year to all the good folks who helped everyone at StillWaters, like the gentleman above, to live full and happy lives.

By Margaret, Amarillo TX (Margaret) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 09:27 am:

Rain with thunderstorms here.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 10:05 am:

We have "nothing" weather here in Lansing today. I think the high will be in the low 40s. It seems weird to hear folks saying "Happy New Year" when it looks like spring. I am not complaining, though, about not having any snow. This means the most we could have now of winter is under 90 days. Woo hoo! That seems manageable.

By Kay (Loonz) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 12:55 pm:

Hello and Happy New Year to all. Wish we had snow here in Virginia. Not even much cold weather yet.

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 01:42 pm:

Happy New Year to all!!
We're planning a "really big" party for New Year's Eve. We're having a "pajama party", in bed by 9:00!!

Oh the woes of getting old. sigh

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 03:55 pm:

Getting old is better than the alternative. Enjoy your party. Don't spill your drinks on the sheets.

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 04:33 pm:

Found my New Year's Resolution notes from years gone by and I thought I'd share them with you:

2001: I will get my weight down below 170.
2002: I will watch my calories until my weight is below 200.
2003: I will follow my new diet until I get below 220.
2004: I will work out once a week.
2005: I will drive past a gym at least once a week.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 04:37 pm:

I'm with you Joanie on the resolutions. I live right behind my gym. There is no good excuse for not going there. I could walk there. To continue the line of resolutions, this year I will think about working out and dieting at least once a week. I will lie down until the thought goes away.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 04:42 pm:

I used to think it was bad to be lazy, so I stopped thinking.
Mr. Deb

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 04:44 pm:

Talk to you all next Wednesday! Have a Happy, Safe and Sober New Year! If you drink and drive consider this: Can you afford to be without a driver's license? Think before you drink. :o)

By Gonna be a Yooper (Joanie) on Friday, December 29, 2006 - 05:07 pm:

Mr. Deb, you go DUDE!

By Backhomedon (Backhomedon) on Saturday, December 30, 2006 - 12:19 am:

Happy New Year to all the Yoopers and Trolls and
that includes the WANNA-BE-YOOPERS!!

By AČ in Cedar Bay (Andytofu) on Saturday, December 30, 2006 - 01:40 am:

Joanie, Gonna Be a Yooper--I laughed out loud at your resolutions of the past. What happened to 2006? Happy New Year from one still learning to be a real Yooper here in Cedar Bay. No City lights but magnificent sunsets over Lake Superior.
