"The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down..." Today commemorates many things (see Mary Drew's comments on the Pasty Cam page) including the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Eight years ago, the Pasty Cam snapped a shot in Munising, not all that far from Whitefish Point.

The Great Lakes Maritime Academy (Traverse City) lost one of its own, cadet David Weiss, when the Fitzgerald went down. The Maritime Academy will hold its annual memorial service at noon today.

I have visited the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum many times myself. It is always a great place to visit. If you ever get the chance to visit the Museum, please do. It will be worth the drive to Whitefish Point. The area around the Point is also beautiful to see.
